DISINFORMATION NATION

THE MAINSTREAM CORPORATE MEDIA LEAD US AWAY FROM THE TRUTH.

"WE'LL KNOW OUR DISINFORMATION PROGRAM IS COMPLETE
WHEN EVERYTHING THE AMERICAN PUBLIC BELIEVES IS FALSE."

William Casey, Ronald Reagan's CIA Director, 1981

THE CORPORATE MEDIA MANUFACTURE A WORLD THAT REFLECTS THE VIEWS OF ESTABLISHED POWER, AND SERVES THE AGENDA OF A GLOBAL OLIGARCHY, OFFERING AN ENDLESS STREAM OF PROPAGANDA, DISINFORMATION AND LIES, MISINFORMING PEOPLE AND PREVENTING THEM FROM UNDERSTANDING HOW THE WORLD REALLY WORKS.

THE FALSE NARRATIVE THAT THIS OLIGARCHY CONSTRUCTS THROUGH THEIR CONTROL OF MOST MAJOR MEDIA INSTITUTIONS WORLDWIDE, ALTHOUGH WESTERN IN ORIGIN AND PRIMARILY BASED IN THE UNITED STATES, IS GLOBAL IN SCOPE, WITH THE HEGEMONY OF WESTERN FINANCIAL, CORPORATE, DYNASTIC AND POLITICAL ELITES AS ITS GOAL.

THIS WEBSITE IS AN ATTEMPT TO PIERCE THE VEIL OF SECRECY AND EXPOSE THE INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO USE THE POPULAR MEDIA - FROM WHICH WE GET ALMOST ALL OF OUR INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORLD - TO DECEIVE US AND PREVENT US FROM SEEING THE WORLD AS IT REALLY IS.

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds our molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized."

Edward Bernays in his 1928 book "Propaganda"

HOW DO WE BECOME INFORMED
ABOUT THE WORLD AROUND US?

In our daily lives, we have first-hand information only about things we experience personally - things we see with our own eyes, hear with our own ears and touch with our own hands. We know some other things because they are passed on to us by parents, teachers, friends and individuals and institutions with whom we have personal contact. But, the vast majority of the things we know about our country and about the world are transmitted to us by the media.

Without the popular media, we would have litle awareness of what goes on beyond our personal experience. The media - the mainstream, corporate, establishment, social media - provide us, almost without exception, with our understanding of the world.

What is this entity - the media - that has so much control over our understanding of the world around us? Who are the institutions and individuals who have this power? How did they get this authority and for what purposes do they use it? How do they decide what is newsworthy and what is not? How do they choose what we should know and not know? How objective are they, do they have biases, and if they do have biases, how do these biases impact our ideas, of almost everything?

If we do not understand how we gain our knowledge of the world, we are remiss. For, how can we function as citizens of a so-called representative democracy, if we have no idea where the information upon which we base our decisions comes from, or if it is accurate?

This website is an attempt to answer the question:
Should we continue to trust the mainstream corporate media, and if not, are there more honest, truthful alternatives?

WHAT IS DISINFORMATION?

DISINFORMATION has been defined as:
1 - Deliberately misleading or biased information.
2 - False information intended to deceive or mislead.
3 - Information deliberately spread in order to influence public opinion or obscure the truth.
4 - Propaganda.

"Disinformation does not mean false information. It means misleading information - misplaced, irrelevant, fragmented or superficial information - information that creates the illusion of knowing something, but which in fact leads one away from knowing."

Neil Postman, 1985

"The media want to maintain their intimate relation to state power. To do that, you've got to play the game, and playing the game means telling their lies, serving as their disinformation apparatus. "

Noam Chomsky, 1986

"We are not idiots. We are cowed by disinformation from the media, a skewed view of the world."

Gore Vidal

"Carl Bernstein's 1977 article in Rolling Stone entitled "The CIA and the Media" exposed that more than 400 American journalists had secretly carried out assignments for the Central Intelligence Agency, according to documents on file at CIA headquarters. [1950-1977]. Some of these journalists' relationships with the Agency were tacit; some were explicit. Reporters shared their notebooks with the CIA. Editors shared their staffs. Some of the journalists were Pulitzer Prize winners, Most were less exalted: foreign correspondents who found that their association with the Agency helped their work. Tthe CIA's use of the American news media has been much more extensive than Agency officials have acknowledged publicly or in closed sessions with members of Congress."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2010

"Once an enemy is demonized the media display a form of hysteria that helps mobilize the public in support of whatever forms of violence the government wishes to carry out. They become a virtual propaganda arm of the government, joining with it in the common fight against "another Hitler." Under these conditions remarkable structures of disinformation can be built, institutionalized, and remain parts of historic memory even in the face of ex post confutations, which are kept out of sight."

Edward s Herman, 2001

"Media corporations function like giant magnifying glasses that roam the world, highlighting facts that benefit corporate-friendly parties, leaders, allied states and voices. They also magnify facts that undermine and harm corporate-unfriendly parties, leaders, groups and voices."

Eric Zuesse, 2018

"A few alternative media outlets have begun to question whether or not certain mainstream media outlets are actually connected to the Deep State, most notably the CIA. An unimaginable scale of disinformation is being released and promoted throughout mainstream media channels on a daily basis, all propagandizing the public to go along with the desired direction of the American establishment."

Brandon Turbeville, 2017

"The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses."

Malcolm X

"Print and broadcast media outside the US play their role in contributing to a wave of disinformation, omissions and lies in the interests of US propaganda."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"The foulest damage to our political life comes not from the 'secrets' which they hide from us, but from the little bits of half-truth and disinformation which they do tell us."

E. P. Thompson, British historian

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you to commit atrocities."

Voltaire

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of."

Edward Bernays, the father of American propaganda

"We tell the people what they need to know."

Frank Sesno, CNN "News"

"You can either be informed and be your own rulers, or you can be ignorant and have someone else, who is not ignorant, rule over you."

Julian Assange

"The most powerful component of any fear and disinformation campaign rests with the CIA, which secretly subsidizes authors, journalists and media critics, through a web of private foundations and CIA-sponsored front organizations.
... Disinformation is routinely "planted" by CIA operatives in the newsroom of major dailies, magazines and TV channels. Outside public relations firms are often used to create "fake stories"."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2005

"Media manipulation in the U.S. today is more efficient than it was in Nazi Germany, because here we have the pretense that we are getting all the information we want. That misconception prevents people from even looking for the truth."

Mark Crispin Miller

"For the first time in human history, there is a concerted strategy to manipulate global perception. And the mass media are operating as its compliant assistants, failing both to resist it and to expose it.
The sheer ease with which this machinery has been able to do its work reflects a creeping structural weakness which now afflicts the production of our news."

Nick Davies, British investigative journalist, 2017

"Disinformation is a large part of the CIA's covert action responsibility, and the American people are the primary target of its lies."

Ralph McGehee, former CIA officer

"Most of the Mainstream Western Media (MWM) works tirelessly and slavishly to protect the financial and corporate elite by creating a propaganda bubble for all of us to suffocate in. Only by escaping this stifling Western disinformation fog machine can we discover the true reality of the world."

Jeff J. Brown, 2016

"The CIA's relationship to the US media is amply documented. The New York Times continues to entertain a close relationship not only with US intelligence, but also with the Pentagon and more recently with the Department of Homeland Security.
"Operation Mocking Bird" was an initiative of the CIA's Office of Special Projects (OSP), established in the early 1950s. Its objective was to exert influence on both the US as well as the foreign media. From the 1950s, members of the US media were routinely enlisted by the CIA."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2010

"The media are not conduits for news and views; they are global systems designed and evolved to highlight a certain type of news to impose a certain kind of view."

Eric Zuesse, 2018

"The U.S. propaganda system is at the peak of its powers in the early years of the 21st century, riding the wave of capitalism's triumph, U.S. global hegemony, and the effective service of the increasingly concentrated and commercialized mainstream media. In such times its ability to ignore inconvenient facts, swallow disinformation, and work the public over with propaganda can easily compete with - even surpass - anything found in totalitarian systems."

Edward S. Herman, 2001

"The Israeli intelligence agency - Mossad - has a skillful disinformation service. The amount of disinformation it feeds to the American "market" is embarrassing, but even more embarrassing is how America swallows hook, line and sinker such propaganda."

John Coleman, 2006

"The CIA owns numerous news organizations, publishing houses, and wire services abroad, which produce disinformation that makes its way back to the states."

Michael Parenti, 2007

"In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Operation Mockingbird was a secret CIA effort to influence and control the American media and, thus, to influence and control the information received by the American people.
... Contrary to the notion that the CIA insidiously infiltrated the journalistic community, there is ample evidence that America's leading publishers and news executives allowed themselves and their organizations to become handmaidens to the intelligence services.
... Among the executives who lent their cooperation to the CIA were Williarn Paley of the Columbia Broadcasting System, Henry Luce of Tirne Inc., Arthur Hays Sulzberger of the New York Times, Barry Bingham Sr. of the LouisviIle Courier_Journal, and James Copley of the Copley News Service. Other organizations which cooperated with the CIA include the American Broadcasting Company, the National Broadcasting Company, the Associated Press, United Press International, Reuters, Hearst Newspapers, Scripps_Howard, Newsweek magazine, the Mutual Broadcasting System, the Miami Herald and the old Saturday Evening Post and New York Herald_Tribune."

Brandon Turbeville, 2017

"Counterterrorism and war propaganda are intertwined. The propaganda apparatus feeds disinformation into the news chain. The terror warnings must appear to be "genuine" The objective is to present the terror groups as "enemies of America'.
One of the main objectives of war propaganda is to fabricate an enemy."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2005

"Those who don't read newspapers are uninformed, those who read newspapers are misinformed."

Mark Twain

"The New York Times itself, both as a media institution and the product that is delivered in its name on a daily basis, is built and thrives on structures of disinformation and selective information that constitute Big Lies."

Edward S Herman

"With the help of the media, the military determine the public perception and use it for their plans. They manage to stir expectations and spread scenarios and deceptions. In this new kind of war, the PR strategists of the US administration fulfill a similar function as the bomber pilots. The special departments for public relations in the Pentagon and in the secret services have become combatants in the information war.
The US military specifically uses the lack of transparency in media coverage for their deception maneuvers. The way they spread information, which is then picked up and distributed by newspapers and broadcasters, makes it impossible for readers, listeners or viewers to trace the original source. Thus, the audience will fail to recognize the actual intention of the military."

Ulrich Tilgner, a veteran Middle East correspondent for German and Swiss television, 2003

"We hear about the occasions when there are differences between the mainstream media and the government. What we don't hear about are the 95 percent of occasions where the mainstream media faithfully propagate disinformation stories which are often planted by the CIA."

Michael Parenti, 1988

"Unfortunately, we get only disinformation from the New York Times and other official places. Americans have no idea of the extent of their government's mischief."

Gore Vidal

"Media disinformation has become institutionalized. The lies and fabrications have become increasingly blatant when compared to the 1970s. The US media has become the mouthpiece of US foreign policy. Disinformation is routinely "planted" by CIA operatives in the newsroom of major dailies, magazines and TV channels."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2010

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA

MAINSTREAM MEDIA has been defined as:
1 - The large mass news media that influence a large number of people and both reflect and shape prevailing currents of thought.
2 - Conventional newspapers, television and other news sources that most people know about and regard as reliable.
3 - The principal, dominant or widely accepted media.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAVE BECOME PROPAGANDA MACHINES

The media personalities we look to for news and information are merely extremely well-paid actors and propagandists, working for U.S. media monopolies, protecting the status quo, and telling us what the media oligarchy has decided we should know (and avoiding telling us what the same oligarchy has decided we shouldn't know).

"In America, we grew up thinking that the people that we see on the nightly news are journalists. But, there is no journalism happening there, only script reading. That is understood by anyone with a sliver of common sense, and the objectivity to realize that their newsperson is basically an actor."

Charlie Robinson, in his book "The Octopus of Global Control", 2017

"The major news media that serve at the pleasure of a commercial oligarchy that pays them, and pays them handsomely, for their pretense of speaking truth to power. The prominent figures in our contemporary Washington press corps regard themselves as government functionaries, enabling and codependent."

Lewis H. Lapham

"The mainstream media is a conglomerate of collective corporate thought, designed to make you ignorant and unaware of the realities of the world, of the important issues, and to hide in the shadows the sacredly guarded truths of power. Our mainstream media - the large newspapers, radio and TV news stations - are dominated by billion dollar corporations, whose boards of directors reflect the 'who's who' of the corporate, political, and financial elite, with former government officials, industrialists, and bankers controlling the dispersal of information and the perspectives we are given."

Andrew Gavin Marshall, 2012

"Propaganda is most effective when our consent is engineered by those with a fine education - Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Columbia - and with careers on the BBC, the Guardian, the New York Times, the Washington Post."

John Pilger

"The national broadcast media have become a propaganda arm of the Pentagon."

John Stauber, 2009

"Images sent over thousands of miles, well-lit anchors who seem alert to everything of importance taking place in our world, field reporters in far-flung places who pop up and respond instantly to the anchors and deliver close-up accounts of vital events.
And the same important faces of government leaders who, day after day, are struggling to improve our destiny against great odds, against intransigent enemies of progress.
All this is delivered to us in the space of a few minutes, each night, like clockwork.
The television news presents that little show of magic which the people sorely need. The need never dies. It's eternal.
The television anchors can be obvious oafs, hucksters, cheap con artists.
They can twist the truth, burn it, hide it, step on it, reverse it; it doesn't matter."

Jon Rappoport

"The "Russiagate" scam-artist pundits and fake journalists have no shame and many of them already achieved fame and fortune. Moreover, just like the banker crooks of the financial crisis era and the Iraq war WMD peddlers that came before them, these people are more likely to be promoted than face any life-altering consequences for the society damaging lies they spread."

Michael Krieger , 2019

"TV is not what happened. It is what some man or woman who has been labeled a journalist or correspondent thinks is worth reporting."

Neil Postman and Steve Powers, 2008

"Television journalism is largely a farce. Celebrity reporters, masquerading as journalists, make millions a year and give a platform to the powerful and the famous so they can spin, equivocate, and lie.
... It is not one or two reporters or television hosts who are corrupt. The media institutions are corrupt. Many media workers, especially those based in Washington, work shamelessly for our elites.
... The well-paid television pundits and news celebrities, the economists and the banking and financial sector leaders, see the world from inside the comfort of the corporate box. They are loyal to the corporate state. They cling to the corporation and the corporate structure. It is known. It is safe. It is paternal. It is the system."

Chris Hedges, 2009

"Establishment journalists and media stars are not on the outside of the establishment, they are members of the establishment. They work for the largest corporations. They live in Washington. Socio-economically, their colleagues and partners and family members are people within the government, within the establishment. And what they want to do is to protect and defend the establishment, more than anything else. To protect the idea that the establishment is functioning properly. And so, their interest is to minimize the public anger and the public rage."

Glenn Greenwald, Bill Moyer's Journal, 2009

"Two thirds of Americans - 67% - believe traditional journalism is out of touch with what Americans want from their news.
While most Americans (70%) think journalism is important to the quality of life in their communities, two thirds (64%) are dissatisfied with the quality of journalism in their communities
Nearly half of respondents (48%) said their primary source of news and information is the Internet, an increase from 40% who said the same a year ago. Younger adults were most likely to name the Internet as their top source - 55% of those age 18 to 29 say they get most of their news and information online, compared to 35% of those age 65 and older. These oldest adults are the only age group to favor a primary news source other than the Internet, with 38% of these seniors who said they get most of their news from television. Overall, 29% said television is their main source of news, while fewer said they turn to radio (11%) and newspapers (10%) for most of their news and information. Just 7% of those age 18 to 29 said they get most of their news from newspapers, while more than twice as many (17%) of those age 65 and older list newspapers as their top source of news and information.
Web sites are regarded as a more important source of news and information than traditional media outlets - 86% of Americans said Web sites were an important source of news, with more than half (56%) who view these sites as very important. "

www.zogby.com/, February 27, 2008

"Why do mainstream media reporters within ostensibly free democracies act just like state media propagandists? Why are they so reliably pro-establishment, all throughout every mainstream outlet? Why do they so consistently marginalize any idea that doesn't fit within the extremely narrow Overton window of acceptable opinion? Why does anyone who inconveniences western establishment power always find themselves on the losing end of a trial by media? Why are they so dependably adversarial toward anything that could be perceived as a flaw in any nation outside the US-centralized power alliance, and so dependably forgiving of the flaws of the nations within it?"

Caitlin Johnstone

"The U.S. mainstream 'news' media are propaganda-organs for the U.S. Government.
While some American news-media are Democratic Party propagandists, and others are Republican Party propagandists, and therefore all of them eagerly expose lies that are of only a partisan nature, none of them will expose lies that both Parties share."

Eric Zuesse, 2019

"Pravda and Izvestia in the former Soviet Union would have been hard-pressed to surpass the American media in their subservience to the official agenda. They have abandoned the notion of objectivity or even the idea of providing a public space where problems are discussed and debated. It's a scandal that reveals the existence of a system of propaganda, not of serious media so essential in a democratic society."

Edward Herman, professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania

"The success of print and TV pundits is based on allying with a prominent point of view or interest group and serving it."

Paul Craig Roberts

"Rush Limbaugh can depict himself as being this insurgent outsider, but he supported the wars of the last eight years. He supported the tax policies that Ronald Reagan essentially instituted as conventional wisdom - that we need to lower taxes, reduce government spending. All of the conventional clichés that the media airs frequently, and doesn't need much time in order to explain, are ones that Rush Limbaugh and the furthest fringes of the right essentially embrace."

Glenn Greenwald - Bill Moyer's Journal, 2009

"The "news" is only a commodity, which is used to gather an audience that will be sold to advertisers."

Neil Postman and Steve Powers, 2008

"Essentially Walter Chronkite was a shill for the government. It didn't matter whether it was Democratic or Republican. He was for the status quo."

Lewis Lapham, 2009

"What we have now is the Reagan-Bush press corp. It's the press corp that they helped create - that they created partly by purging those, or encouraging the purging of those who were not going along, but it was ultimately the editors and the news executives that did the purging. The people who succeeded and did well were those who didn't stand up, who didn't write the big stories, who looked the other way when history was happening in front of them, and went along either consciously or just by cowardice with the deception of the American people."

Robert Parry, 1993

"The mainstream media is in crisis and a free and open society at risk at a time fiction substitutes for fact, news is carefully controlled, dissent marginalized, and on-air and print journalists support powerful interests as paid liars."

Stephen Lendman, 2009

"A problem that has been facing American mainstream journalism for a long time has mainly to do with access. They want to get their calls returned by the big guys at Goldman Sachs. So they develop a relationship in which the journalists themselves become insiders. Too often, consequently, they do little else than rewrite the press releases they are handed.
This has cost America a lot. Mainstream journalists of The New York Times and elsewhere were complicit insiders both in the lead-up to the Iraq war and in the lead-up to the financial meltdown."

Arianna Huffington, 2009

"American journalism is dead and has been for at least the last ten years. It used to maintain a semblance of objectivity and at least tried to report on the facts on the news of the day without politics distorting everything. But bias and editorializing have polluted our newsrooms for some time now and it is only getting worse. The mainstream media has become a fake news propaganda machine.
We cannot trust our mainstream news sources anymore for an honest view of today's political, economic, cultural, or even international events. There is no more objectivity, no more dedication to the truth, and no more fair-minded analysis of the facts available without taking sides.
American journalism is dead today because our news reporters and commentators have let their ideology get the best of them. The mainstream media is on its way out and there's nothing they can do about it because they can't even admit there's a problem."

Bob Shanahan, 2018

"For most people, the primary source of their information is the mainstream. It is mainly television. Even the internet for all its subversiveness has still a very large component of the mainstream. And that means we're still getting its singular message about wars, about the economy, about all those things that touch our lives. All we are getting is what I would call a contrived silence, a censorship by omission. I think this is almost the principal issue of today because without information, we cannot possibly begin to influence government. We cannot possibly begin to end the wars."

John Pilger, 2009

"Many senior journalists reflect the dominant strain that runs through their newsrooms - one based on the assumed benefits of neoliberalism and foreign intervention and the undesirability of redistribution, nationalisation and people like Jeremy Corbyn who don't share the same social circles or ideological commitments."

Des Freedman, Professor of Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London

"To most working TV journalists the news is determined by what the news director thinks is important."

Neil Postman and Steve Powers, 2008

"The limitations of professional journalism, the influence of owners, the linkages of media institutions to the power structure of society, and the internalized presuppositions, have led to what can only be characterized as a palpable double standard in coverage of the U.S. role in the world.
... The U.S. news media, including our most respected newspapers like the New York Times, turn a blind eye to U.S. violations of core international law, having no qualms about playing up the violations of adversaries. It would be nearly impossible for the coverage to be more unprincipled."

John Nichols and Robert W. McChesney in their book "Tragedy & Farce"

"Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the U.S. media."

Noam Chomsky

"The Washington press corps has grown closer and closer to its sources. It's to the point where Brit Hume, the ABC correspondent at the White House, plays tennis with George Bush. Tom Friedman of the New York Times is very close with Jim Baker. You find these relationships are so close that reporters don't challenge the subjects of their stories, they just tell you what the government is saying. In other words, they've become stenographers for power and not journalists."

David Barsamian in his book "Stenographers to Power"

"As the new corporations began taking over the press, something called "professional journalism" was invented. To attract big advertisers, the new corporate press had to appear respectable, pillars of the establishment-objective, impartial, balanced... in order to be professional, journalists had to ensure that news and opinion were dominated by official sources, and that has not changed. Go through the New York Times on any day, and check the sources of the main political stories-domestic and foreign-you'll find they're dominated by government and other established interests. That is the essence of professional journalism. "

John Pilger, 2007

"The mainstream media receive most of their benefits - their access, their scoops, their sense of belonging, their money, their esteem - from dutifully serving a role. For them, 'neutrality' means: 'serving the interests of American political and military leaders and amplifying their perspective'. "

Glenn Greenwald

"Mainstream journalists in the United States often function more like a fourth branch of government than a feisty fourth estate. If anything, the patterns of media bias that characterize sycophantic reporting in "peacetime" are amplified during a war or a national security crisis.
Since the tragic events of September 11, the separation between press and state has dwindled nearly to the vanishing point."

Martin A. Lee in his book "September 11 and the US War"

"There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it.
There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.
The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press?
We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

John Swinton, preeminent New York journalist, at a press banquet,1880

"The main media bias is in favor of the thieves who stole our country and economy, and own the mainstream media companies. The omnipresent mainstream media is the greatest weapon of oppression humanity has ever known."

David DeGraw

"Essentially Walter Chronkite was a shill for the government. It didn't matter whether it was Democratic or Republican. He was for the status quo."

Lewis Lapham, 2009

"Over the last three decades, the Washington Post has evolved into a neoconservative propaganda sheet, especially its opinion section which fronted for George W. Bush's false Iraq-WMD claims, led the long-term bashing of Iraq War critics, and defends whatever actions the Israeli government takes, including the recent war in Gaza.
Rather than a newspaper committed to the truth and favoring a broad debate about important issues, the Washington Post has become an enforcement mechanism for a neocon-dominated Establishment, setting the parameters for permissible points of view and twisting facts for that purpose.
... The sad truth appears to be that the Washington Post can no longer be counted on to be anything like an honest broker, especially when it comes to issues near and dear to the hearts of neocons. Rather the Post's role is now to set the parameters for whatever debate the neocons find acceptable
... Rather than encouraging as free and open debate as possible, the Washington Post sees its role as herding the American people to certain preordained conclusions - and casting out from acceptable society anyone who dares threaten the Washington consensus."

Robert Parry, 2009

"Journalists who participate in The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer are some of the best-known political pundits in the United States, such as Paul Gigot, David Gergen, William Kristol and William Safire. All of them belong to the Bilderberg Group, the CFR or the Trilateral Commission."

Daniel Estulin in is book "The Bilderberg Group"

"The framing conditions shaping the corporate media:
1. Corporate nature, elite/ parent company ownership and profit-maximising orientation
2. Dependence on allied corporate advertisers for 50 per cent or more of revenues
3. Dependence on cheap, subsidised news supplied by state-corporate allies
4. Political, economic and legal carrots and sticks rewarding corporate media conformity and punishing dissent.
When facts, ideas, journalists and managers are poured into this framework, the result is a highly filtered, power-friendly 'pyramid' of media performance. Every aspect of corporate media output is shaped by these framing conditions."

Eric Zuesse, 2018

"If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're misinformed."

Mark Twain

"Most newspapers are part of huge conglomerates, and the policy that comes down is that you don't rock any boats. You can't make the government upset because the value of the company is the broadcast licenses, and the government will not renew them, and we can't make our corporate owners mad because they will fire us, and we can't make the advertisers mad or they will pull their advertising. So the media can't say anything that will upset the power structure. And that's what had happened to the press."

Paul Craig Roberts

"As news organizations are increasingly driven by a bottom-line mentality, the news we get becomes more and more sensational. What is the difference between Time and Newsweek? Between ABC, NBC, and CBS News? Between the Washington Post and the New York Times? For all practical purposes, none. The concentration of media power means that Americans increasingly get their information from a few sources who decide what is "news."

Oliver Stone

"If you only speak to a very narrow slice of people. If you spend most of your time in Washington only speaking to political elites in both parties, or corporate executives and lobbyists, you have a very distorted picture of what public opinion is. A lot of times both political parties will agree on a certain position that a huge number of Americans, often even majorities actually reject. And yet, if all you're doing is talking to people in political power and political and financial elite, you will believe that the range of opinion is much narrower than it actually is. Reporters and media stars and corporate and establishment journalists are so embedded into the establishment as a cultural and sociological matter, that they're out of touch from what public opinion actually is. Polls show that huge numbers of issues and positions that are held by large numbers of Americans are ones that are virtually never heard in our media discussions."

Glenn Greenwald, Bill Moyer's Journal, 2009

"The CIA developed covert relationships with about 50 American journalists or employees of U.S. media organizations. According to one CIA operative, "You could get a journalist cheaper than a good call girl, for a couple hundred dollars a month." The agency arranged for the publication of books to be read in America, and for at least one of these works to be reviewed favorably in the New York Times."

Peter Dale Scott in his book "The Road to 9/11"

"By far the most valuable ... associations, according to CIA officials have been with the New York Times, CBS and Time Inc... Over the years, the [CBS] network provided cover for CIA employees, including at least one well-known foreign correspondent and several stringers... A high-level CIA official with a prodigious memory says that the New York Times provided cover for about ten CIA operatives between 1950 and 1966."

journalist Carl Bernstein in a Rolling Stone article "The CIA and the Media", 1977

"There was a time in America when the press and the government were on opposite sides of the field. The press was supposed to speak on behalf of the people. The new tradition is that the press speaks on behalf of the government."

Lewis Lapham, 2009

"If you evolve in the mainstream media, you're basically evolving yourself out of a job. So you have a group oriented more toward their careers, people who don't have much of a real commitment to true independent journalism. You have journalists who know longer really care about getting the story correct as much as they care about protecting their flanks in terms of their careers."

Robert Parry, 2009

"Without the monopoly concentration of mass media, there can be no modern propaganda. For propaganda to thrive, the media must remain concentrated, news agencies and news services must be limited, the press must be under central command, and radio, film, and television monopolies must pervade."

Nancy Snow

"News Corp, Disney, Viacom, Time Warner, CBS and Comcast own 90% of the TV stations, radio stations, movies, magazines and newspapers that Americans rely on for news and entertainment."

Michael Snyder, 2017

"One of the best kept secrets is the degree to which a handful of giant conglomerates, all belonging to the secret Bilderberg Group, Council on Foreign Relations, NATO, the Club of Rome, and the Trilateral Commission, control the world's flow of information. They determine what we see on television, hear on the radio and read in newspapers, magazines, books, or on the Internet."

Daniel Estulin in his book "The Bilderberg Group"

"By the second decade of the twenty-first century virtually all news and information delivered to the American public, including publishing, movies, music, TV, and networks is controlled by a few owners of only six multinational corporations. These six conglomerates are General Electric (NBC), Time Warner, Disney, News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (former owner of CBS). This media monopoly may not tell the public how to think, but it certainly sets the agenda for what to think about. The monopoly creates an electronic "matrix" all around us.
... Topics such as climate change, gender identity ambiguity, anti-gun legislation, harmful prescription drugs and vaccines, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) continually fill the media owned by these corporate giants only because such issues keep society divided and in conflict, which serves to divert public attention from the true rulers of the world."

Jim Marrs in his book 'The Illuminati'

"The media are increasingly dependent on governmental and corporate sources of news. Maintenance of continuous news shows requires a constant feed and an ever-entertaining supply of stimulating events and breaking news bites. The 24-hour news shows on MSNBC, Fox and CNN maintain constant contact with the White House, Pentagon, and public relations companies representing both government and private corporations."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"You don't need to ban unwelcome books, because the only people who read them already agree with them. You don't need to kick in doors at three in the morning to seize forbidden typewriters. People might revolt against that sort of thing. Just keep prohibited topics off the networks and out of the papers. It is enough."

Fred Reed, 2014

"The Western media as it exists today under near-monopoly corporate ownership is a more sophisticated and total propaganda system than early 20th century propagandists ever dreamed of. As media corporations profit from Western geopolitical and commercial expansion, the propaganda function that supports that expansion is an integrated part of their business model, not something exceptional they do under duress from the state."

blacklistednews.com, 2014

"The mainstream media is a conglomerate of collective corporate thought, designed to make you ignorant and unaware of the realities of the world, of the important issues, and to hide in the shadows the sacredly guarded truths of power. Our mainstream media - the large newspapers, radio and TV news stations - are dominated by billion dollar corporations, whose boards of directors reflect the 'who's who' of the corporate, political, and financial elite, with former government officials, industrialists, and bankers controlling the dispersal of information and the perspectives we are given."

Andrew Gavin Marshall

"In the press, which is owned by rich men, the interests of the investing minority are always identified with those of the nation as a whole. Constantly repeated statements come to be accepted as truths. Innocent and ignorant, most newspaper readers are convinced that the private interests of the rich are really public interests and become indignant whenever these interests are menaced by a foreign power, intervening on behalf of its investing minority. The interest at stake are the interests of the few; but the public opinion which demands the protection of these interests is often a genuine expression of mass emotion. The many really feel and believe that the dividends of the few are worth fighting for."

Aldous Huxley in his book "Ends and Means", 1937

GOOGLE, FACEBOOK & TWITTER DOMINATE SOCIAL MEDIA
GOOGLE OWNS GOOGLE PLUS & YOU TUBE / FACEBOOK OWNS WHATSAPP & INSTAGRAM

"The use of social media to control a targeted nation's information space, and use it as a means of carrying out sociopolitical subversion and even regime change reached its pinnacle in 2011 during the US-engineered "Arab Spring."
Portrayed at first as spontaneous demonstrations organized organically over Facebook and other social media platforms, it is now revealed in articles like the New York Times', "U.S. Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings," that the US government had trained activists years ahead of the protests, with Google and Facebook participating directly in making preparations.
Opposition fronts funded and supported by the US State Department's National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and its subsidiaries Freedom House, International Republican Institute (IRI), and National Democratic Institute (NDI) were invited to several summits where executives and technical support teams from Google and Facebook provided them with the game plans they would execute in 2011 in coordination with US and European media who also attended the summits.
The end result was the virtual weaponization of social media, serving as cover for what was a long-planned, regional series of coups including heavily armed militants who eventually overthrew the governments of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen, with Syria now locked in 6 years of war as a result."

Tony Cartalucci, 2017

"Google is destroying the most glorious gift humanity was granted in the last 300 years [the internet]. The future under Google is a fascist dystopia, their way or the highway, no room for dissidents, no room for free speech. Google is a boot stomping on your face for eternity.
Google is the deep state. Forget about conventional wars, forget about spies, forget about intelligence agencies, forget about all of that. It's all about the internet and Google running the internet. They decide how you feel, what you think, what information you can and can't look at, and ultimately who does and doesn't have a voice."

David Bowie's final message written weeks before he died, 2015

"About two-thirds of U.S. adults (68%) get news on social media sites... Facebook is still far and away the site Americans most commonly use for news, with little change since 2017. About four-in-ten Americans (43%) get news on Facebook. The next most commonly used site for news is YouTube, with 21% getting news there, followed by Twitter at 12%. Smaller portions of Americans (8% or fewer) get news from other social networks like Instagram, LinkedIn or Snapchat."

Katerina Matsa and Elisa Shearer, 2018

"The CIA is using Facebook, Twitter, Google and other social media to spy on people."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2017

"The internet was meant to be open, free, and decentralized, but today it is controlled by a few companies with grave consequences for society and the economy.
... The great hope of an open and free internet has given way to a dystopia where a few big companies control what we see, how we communicate, and what we can say online.
... Although the architecture of the internet is still decentralized, the ecosystem of the World Wide Web is not. A few giant companies have near-monopolistic control of traffic, personal data, commerce, and the flow of information.
... Before 2014, traffic to websites came from many sources, and the web was a lively ecosystem. But beginning in 2014, more than half of all traffic began coming from just two sources: Facebook and Google. Today, over 70 percent of traffic is dominated by those two platforms."

Jonathan Tepper, 2019

AMAZON DOMINATES BOOK SALES
AMAZON OWNS WASHINGTON POST

"The first great large wave of Amazon book-bannings was the early 2017 purge of many dozens of scholarly texts by revisionist historians who had argued at great length and in considerable detail that the Holocaust was largely a hoax, concocted by Jewish activists and Hollywood filmmakers as a powerful shield against any criticism of Jewish or Israeli misbehavior. Although many of these books are still available for sale by their publisher, their complete disappearance from Amazon has greatly reduced their potential distribution.
Amazon today possesses a near-total monopoly over Internet book sales, and if American society continues to allow it to ban serious works of scholarship on political or ideological grounds, our future intellectual freedom has already been lost."

David Rovics , 2019

"What Facebook, Apple, Google and others have made clear at this point is that fake news is fine as long as it's repeating lies of the government or intelligence agencies. There's no amount of war-creating government inspired fake news someone can spread that will ever get you banned by the tech giants, but if you dare to have a discussion about vaccines or 9/11, you'll never be heard from again."

Michael Krieger , 2019

"Concerns about the inaccuracies in news on social media are prevalent even among those who say they prefer to get their news there... Still, those social media news consumers who prefer other platforms such as print or television for news are even more likely to say they expect the news on social media to be largely inaccurate.
Not only do social media news consumers expect the news they see there to be inaccurate, but inaccuracy is the top concern.
... Even though social media news consumers have concerns about the accuracy of the information there, they also cite some benefits of getting news on social media, which may help explain why getting news on the platform is still so common.
The most commonly named positive thing about getting news on social media is convenience"

Katerina Matsa and Elisa Shearer, 2018

"Google's Android mobile operating system powers most smartphones in the world with a whopping 85 percent market share. It has integrated the Android OS into its own search engine, and has integrated Android into its own app store, effectively becoming the gatekeeper to what websites, apps, and companies consumers can access."

Jonathan Tepper, 2019

WIKIPEDIA DOMINATES ONLINE INFORMATION SEARCHES
WIKIPEDIA CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO ACCURATELY REPORT ON CONTROVERSIAL SUBJECTS

WIKIPEDIA SHOWS A CONSISTANT BIAS IN FAVOR OF VACCINES, BIG PHARMA, AND THE MEDICAL STATUS QUO, AS WELL AS MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING.
WIKIPEDIA IS ANTAGONISTC TOWARDS COMPLIMENTARY AND HOLISTIC MEDICINE, NATURAL CAUSES FOR CLIMATE CHANGE (e.g. SUN ACTIVITY), AND CRITICISMS OF VACCIINE SAFETY AND EFFICACY, AS WELL AS CHALLENGES TO MAINSTREAM NARRATIVES OF FALSE FLAG EVENTS SUCH AS 9/11, WHICH ARE DISREGARDED AND CALLED CONSPIRACY THEORIES.

"There is an assumption and a reasonable expectation that the information that you will find on Wikipedia is accurate, soundly-researched and referenced from high-quality reliable sources, written by credentialed writers, scholars and editors, who have expertise on the subject, is unbiased, and that it is objective and balanced. Unfortunately, our two-year investigation into Wikipedia's treatment of health issues reveals exactly the opposite.
... In addition, there are many individuals with outstanding credentials who are faced with slander, character assassination and denigration about their careers and life's work, in biographies put up on Wikipedia, in which they had no input and over which they have no control. They are faced with the reality that they will not be able to change a single syllable on their Wikipedia page. And, there is no possibility of redress."

GLOBAL NEWS AGENCIES AND THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA

THE CORPORATE MEDIA PUBLISH ESTABLISHMENT NARRATIVES - PICKED-UP FROM THE MAJOR GLOBAL NEWS AGENCIES - AND REPEAT THEM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Stories that conform to a narrative of elite power and the maintenance of the status quo, and that advance an establishment agenda, are seamlessly parroted from news agencies to media conglomerates and then to news consumers around the world.

NEWS AGENCIES
THREE MAJOR NEWS AGENCIES ARE THE SOURCE OF MOST HEADLINE NEWS STORIES AROUND THE WORLD

THOMSON-REUTERS
ASSOCIATED PRESS (AP)
AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE (AFP)

"Reuters or Associated Press reports a story and every other major outlet follows suit, reporting the same story with the same perspective as all the others. In a sense, it is only necessary to influence the two and one has drastic levels of influence over the entire corporate media (now made up of only about 6 companies). The CIA, however, has influence over many more outlets than Reuters and AP."

Brandon Turbeville, 2017

"Without the central role of the global news agencies, the worldwide synchronization of propaganda and disinformation would never be so efficient.
Through this "propaganda multiplier", dubious stories from PR experts working for governments, military and intelligence services reach the general public more or less unchecked and unfiltered. The journalists refer to the news agencies and the news agencies refer to their sources.
... The news agencies are the most important suppliers of material to mass media. No daily media outlet can manage without them. So the news agencies influence our image of the world; above all, we get to know what they have selected.
... Some media have outsourced their entire foreign editorial office to a news agency. Moreover, it is well known that many news portals on the internet mostly publish news agency reports.
In the end, this dependency on the global agencies creates a striking similarity in international reporting: from Vienna to Washington, our media often report the same topics, using many of the same phrases - a phenomenon that would otherwise rather be associated with controlled media in authoritarian states.
... The central role of news agencies explains why, in geopolitical conflicts, most media use the same original sources.
... The dominance of global news agencies explains why certain geopolitical issues and events - which often do not fit very well into the US/NATO narrative or are too "unimportant" - are not mentioned in our media at all - if the agencies do not report on something, then most Western media will not be aware of it.
... Due to the rather low journalistic performance of our media and their high dependence on a few news agencies, it is easy for interested parties to spread propaganda and disinformation in a supposedly respectable format to a worldwide audience."

globalresearch.ca, 2016

"News agencies are rarely in the public eye. Yet they are one of the most influential and at the same time one of the least known media types. They are key institutions of substantial importance to any media system. They are the invisible nerve center that connects all parts of this system."

Wolfgang Vyslozil, former managing director of the Austrian APA news agency

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."

Richard Salent, Former President CBS News

"We are going to impose our agenda on the coverage by dealing with issues and subjects that we choose to deal with."

Richard M. Cohen, Senior Producer of CBS political news

"The BBC, is state-owned and funded, its tradition is long, unbroken, and disturbing as the world's largest and most influential broadcaster reaching global audiences in 32 languages. From inception in 1925, it's been reliably pro-government and pro-business, or as its founder Lord Reith wrote the establishment: "They know they can trust us not to be really impartial." Neither he or his successors disappointed on topics mattering most, including war and peace, corporate crimes, US-UK duplicity, labor rights, democratic freedoms, human and civil rights, social justice, and Western imperialism.
As a propaganda service, its record is uncompromisingly anti-union, pro-business, and dependably safe for Whitehall and its allies. It moralizes Western aggression, bashes independent democratic leaders, and cheerleads for the powerful at the expense of providing real news and information for millions believing BBC is credible. For over eight decades, it's record is solid and predictable - betraying the public trust to reliably serve the powerful."

Stephen Lendman, 2009

"The owners of the Washington Post long ago acknowledged that the Post is the government's voice to the people."

John Stockwell - former CIA official and author

"I know the secret of making the average American believe anything I want him to. Just let me control television. Americans are wired into their television sets. Over the last 30 years, they have come to look at their television sets and the images on the screen as reality. You put something on television and it becomes reality. If the world outside the television set contradicts the images, people start changing the world to make it more like the images and sounds of their television. Because its influence is so great, so pervasive, it has become part of our lives. You lose your sense of what is being done to you, but your mind is being shaped and molded."

Hal Becker, Futures Group think-tank veteran

"We have no obligation to make history. We have no obligation to make art. We have no obligation to make a statement. To make money is our only objective."

Michael Eisner, CEO, The Walt Disney Co

"There are some things the general public does not need to know and shouldn't. I believe democracy flourishes when the government can take legitimate steps to keep its secrets, and when the press can decide whether to print what it knows."

Katherine Graham, Washington Post publisher

"It was my job to report what those in power were doing or thinking. That is all someone in my sort of job can do."

BBC political editor Nick Robinson, 2004

"The Economist has a close relationship to Britain's financial elites. It is an establishment news outlet, which has, on balance, supported Britain's involvement in the Iraq war. The Economist's Editor-in-Chief, John Micklethwait was a participant in the June 2010 Bilderberg conference. The Economist also bears the stamp of the Rothschild family. Sir Evelyn Robert Adrian de Rothschild was chairman of The Economist from 1972 to 1989. His wife Lynn Forester de Rothschild currently sits on The Economist's board. The Rothschild family also has a sizeable shareholder interest in The Economist. Former Editor of The Economist (1974-86), Andrew Stephen Bower Knight is currently Chairman of the J. Rothschild Capital Management Fund. He is also reported to have been member of the Steering Group (1986) of the Bilderberg."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2010

"People shouldn't expect the mass media to do investigative stories. That job belongs to the 'fringe' media."

Ted Koppel - broadcast journalist

"The BBC habitually protects power, the monarchy, and an unjust and inequitable class system: The BBC should be seen as no less of an old boys' network than any other of the UK's institutions. From the top flights of big business, to the judiciary, to the civil service, to Westminster, the same pattern persists. This problem takes a particularly insidious form in the BBC because of its enormous influence, allowing it both to gloss and to normalise these dynamics not only for its audience in Britain, but around the world."

Eric Zuesse, 2018

"The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media."

William Colby, former CIA Director, quoted by Dave Mcgowan, Derailing Democracy

"A relatively few well-connected correspondents provide the scoops, that get the coverage in the relatively few mainstream news sources, where the parameters of debate are set and the "official reality" is consecrated for the bottom feeders in the news chain."

Chaim Kupferberg, 2002

"The mainstream media will never tell us that the reason why Washington has been at war for half of the last two centuries is because of US imperialism. They will never tell us that the ceaseless interventions are driven by an insatiable greed for resources, or often enough by the simple desire to plunge a country into chaos if its recalcitrant leaders refuse to genuflect appropriately and show due respect."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"The New York Times and the Washington Post are decidedly sliding into the neocon camp, where the likes of the Wall Street Journal have long resided.
For the Post, this may already be an old story, given its enthusiastic cheerleading for the Iraq War. The Times, however, was a somewhat different story.
That is now changing as the New York Times tosses aside all pretense of objectivity in the cause of seeking "regime change" in Iran, today's top priority for the neoconservatives.
Not only in the New York Times opinion section but in its news columns, Iran's alleged interest in acquiring a nuclear weapon is trumpeted incessantly (despite its denial of such a desire), while rogue nuclear states in the region (such as Israel, Pakistan and India) are given a pass."

Robert Parry, 2010

"National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Broadcasting (PBS) was founded in 1970 as an independent, private, non-profit member organization of US public radio stations, NPR promised to be an alternative to commercial broadcasters by "promot(ing) personal growth rather than corporate gain (and) speak with many voices, many dialects."
Having long ago abandoned its promise, and given its substantial corporate and government funding, NPR is indistinguishable from the rest of the corporate media."

Stephen Lendman, 2009

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAVE DUMBED-DOWN AMERICANS

Most Americans, misinformed by the popular media for so long, are now unable to tell truth from fiction, and as a result, will believe almost anything told to them by the mainstream media.

"Americans have become perfect subjects for George Orwell's Big Brother. They sit stupidly in front of the TV news or the New York Times or Washington Post and absorb the lies fed to them."

Paul Craig Roberts, 2008

"What the press do is they tell you lies, lies they already know you want to hear. The press can figure out what its readers or viewers believe, and make a hell of a living pandering to their egos and telling them that they're smart. They lie and tell the audience they are right, and they never have to change your mind about anything. And the audience rewards them, lauding them and paying them money to keep hearing those sweet, self-serving lies."

Allan Uthman

"Americans are too broadly underinformed to digest nuggets of information that seem to contradict what they know of the world . Instead, news channels prefer to feed Americans a constant stream of simplified information, all of which fits what they already know. That way they don't have to devote more air time or newsprint space to explanations or further investigations. Politicians and the media have conspired to infantilize, to dumb down, the American public. At heart, politicians don't believe that Americans can handle complex truths, and the news media, especially television news, basically agrees."

Tom Fenton, former CBS foreign correspondent

"The mainstream media are tasked by the powers-that-be with marketing war in order to advance US foreign-policy objectives. Without the moral justification for war, it becomes more difficult to convince Americans and Europeans to send their sons to die thousands of miles away from home. It is straightforward Brainwashing 101: repeat a lie long enough, and people will start to believe it."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"Most mainstream westerners harbor an unquestioned assumption that the things they see on CNN, the BBC and the ABC are all accurate descriptions of what's really going on in the world."

Caitlin Johnstone

"It is vital to distinguish between independent journalists who don't have any financial incentive to deceive people, and members of the mainstream media, economists and politicians who most often do. They make a very comfortable living and are paid large sums of money to manipulate and pacify us - to keep us isolated, divided, confused, ignorant, apolitical and as passive as possible. Their primary function is to dumb us down and keep us on the sidelines."

David Degraw, The Road Through 2012: Revolution or World War III

"The mainstream media have set out to destroy a news media that teaches people to think critically."

Chris Hedges

"We're speaking here of people who get virtually all their news from the shock-and-awe tabloid weeklies, AM-radio talk shows, and television news programs which, because of marketplace pressure, aim low in order to reach the widest possible audience, resulting in short programs with lots of commercials, weather, sports, and entertainment. These news sources don't necessarily have to explicitly state falsehoods to produce distorted views; they need only channel to their audience a continuous stream of statements from the government and conservative "experts" justifying the war as if they were neutral observers; ignore contrary views except when an expert is on hand to ridicule them and label them "conspiracy theories"; and never put it all together in a coherent enlightening manner. There is a constant drip-drip of one- sided information, from sources who can be described as stenographers for the powers-that-be."

William Blum in his book "Freeing the World to Death"

"We hear about the occasions when there are differences between the mainstream media and the government. What we don't hear about are the 95 percent of occasions where the mainstream media faithfully propagate disinformation stories which are often planted by the CIA, sometimes planted abroad in newspapers that they may own or that are friendly to them."

Michael Parenti, 1988

"The major media are not comfortable with intelligence. Television is worst, the medium of the illiterate, barely literate, stupid, uneducated, and uninterested. It cannot afford to air much that might puzzle these classes.
Newspapers can assume that their subscribers can at least read but, intelligence being pyramidal in distribution, have to focus of the lower end. They also have to avoid offending the advertisers, the politically correct, or the corporate ownership.
By contrast, web sites have few of these problems. Since they aggregate their readership from the whole planet, they do not have to concern themselves with grocery ads in St. Louis. They cost little to run. They do not need the bottom end of the distribution. And they have become multitudinous. Collectively you might call them "a free press"."

Fred Reed, 2014

"Viewers of the Fox News channel had the lowest knowledge of national and international affairs."

2007 Pew Research study

"Functional illiteracy in North America is epidemic. There are 7 million illiterate Americans. Another 27 million are unable to read well enough to complete a job application, and 30 million can't read a simple sentence. There are some 50 million who read at a fourth - or fifth - grade level. Nearly a third of the nation's population is illiterate or barely literate - a figure that is growing by more than 2 million a year. A third of high-school graduates never read another book for the rest of their lives, and neither do 42 percent of college graduates. In 2007, 80 percent of the families in the United States did not buy or read a book."

Chris Hedges, 2009

"To most working TV journalists the news is determined by what the news director thinks is important."

Neil Postman and Steve Powers, 2008

"Television provides an ideal means to create an homogenous culture, a mass culture, through which popular opinion can be shaped and controlled, so that everyone in the country will think the same.
It being done to dumb you down. To brainwash you."

Daniel Estulin, 2015

"Either we are going to begin to understand how the media really works, or we're going to let that opportunity pass. Its almost an historic opportunity, that we understand that the perception of our world is utterly distorted most of the time through what are seen as credible sources of information."

John Pilger, 2009

"A cynical, mercenary, demagogic press will produce in time a people as base as itself."

Joseph Pulitzer

"The media are a pitiful lot. They don't give us any history, they don't give us any analysis, they don't tell us anything. They don't raise the most basic questions: Who has the most weapons of mass destruction in the world by far? Who has used weapons of mass destruction more than any other nation? Who has killed more people in this world with weapons of mass destruction than any other nation? The answer: the United States."

Howard Zinn

"The American people have become some of the most naïve and gullible folks in the world, because their press enables it, almost encourages it, with its undue and sycophantic deference to the government."

Cenk Uygur, 2008

"How can newspapers compete for the intelligent market? Or for readers who simply do not believe them? They are dull because they have to be, bland because they must avoid offending anyone, controlled because they can be. They write to the least common denominator of their clientele because they have to be comprehensible to non-specialist readers and, in the United States, are quasi-governmental."

Fred Reed, 2014

"Over 75% of people get all their information from the television. In fact, the only truth most people know is what they get over the television. There is an entire generation of people who did not know anything that didn´t come out of this tube."

Daniel Estulin, 2015

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

Voltaire

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ENCOURAGE CRITICAL THINKING BY PROVIDING AN UNRESTRICTED RANGE OF OBJECTIVE NEWS AND INFORMATION SO THAT AMERICANS CAN MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS THAT PROTECT FREE SPEECH AND ALLOW OUR UNIQUE DEMOCRACY TO WORK FOR ALL.

THE REALITY:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE THE PROPAGANDA ARM OF A GLOBAL OLIGARCHY - A FINANCIAL-CORPORATE-TECH-MILITARY-SURVEILLANCE-GOVERNMENT COMPLEX.

THE JOB OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS TO SUPPORT THE STATUS QUO, AND THE AGENDA OF THE FINANCIAL ELITE, WHO CONTROLS THE POLITICAL LEADERS AND THE MEDIA OF UNITED STATES AND MOST OF THE COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ROUTINELY MARGINALIZE DISSENTERS AND CENSOR THE NEWS, ENCOURAGE BLACKLISTING AND BANNING, AND SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT'S WAR ON WHISTLEBLOWERS.

SOME SUBJECTS AND EVENTS ARE CONSIDERED "TABOO" BY THE OLIGARCHY - TOO THREATENING TO THE ACCEPTED ESTABLISHMENT NARRATIVE TO BE SHARED WITH MAINSTREAM AUDIENCES. AS A RESULT, THIS INFORMATION IS CENSORED BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA AND NEVER REACHES THE PUBLIC.

**********

Media censorship once done out of public view is now out in the open for all to see.
Google, Facebook, Twitter ban and deplatform websites that do not fit to their political or social point of view.
YouTube blocks videos and removes channels that are deemed politically unacceptable to its owner - Google.
Amazon bans books and films that do not conform to the agendas of the global oligarchy.

Wikipedia misinforms visitors about subjects, events and persons whose ideas the establishment does not agree with, and unethically edits personal and informational pages to conform to establishment agendas.

News and information sources that offer an alternative to the establishment narrative are censored and marginalized, and are blacklisted as "fake news" and "conspiracy theories".

"The only way the US sees to fix a problem is to silence the source."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"The main reason Julian Assange has attracted such venom, spite and jealously is that WikiLeaks tore down the facade of a corrupt political elite held aloft by journalists. In heralding an extraordinary era of disclosure, Assange made enemies by illuminating and shaming the media's gatekeepers, not least on the newspaper that published and appropriated his great scoop. He became not only a target, but a golden goose."

John Pilger, 2014

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."

Richard Salant, former President of CBS News

"Under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights."

Albert Einstein, Monthly Review, 1949

"There is an Establishment history, an official history, which dominates history textbooks, trade publishing, the media and library shelves. The official line always assumes that events such as wars, revolutions, scandals, assassinations, are more or less random unconnected events. By definition events can never be the result of a conspiracy, they can never result from premeditated planned group action.
... Woe betide any book or author that falls outside the official guidelines. Foundation support is not there. Publishers get cold feet. Distribution is hit and miss, or non-existent."

Antony Sutton in his book "America's Secret Establishment: An Introduction to the Order of Skull and Bones"

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supra-national sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries."

David Rockefeller - Council on Foreign Relations, June 1991

"Perhaps the most basic reason Americans should read Noam Chomsky's work today, is simply to understand the real world in which they live, that which is obscured by their leaders and the U.S. mass media."

Fred Branfman

"Julian Assange has been reduced by the mainstream media from one of the few towering figures of our time - a man who will have a central place in history books - to nothing more than a pest..
... There will be no indignation at the BBC, or the Guardian, or CNN at Julian Assange's fate.
And that is because these journalists, politicians and experts never really believed anything they said. They knew all along that the US wanted to silence Assange and to crush Wikileaks. They knew that all along and they didn't care.
They are not there to represent the truth, or to stand up for ordinary people, or to protect a free press, or even to enforce the rule of law. They don't care about any of that. They are there to protect their careers, and the system that rewards them with money and influence. They don't want an upstart like Assange kicking over their applecart."

Jonathan Cook, 2019

"I do not believe that most corporate journalists are below average in their intelligence or in their capacity to empathize with others. Top-down organizations hire and promote people who make certain assumptions about the world."

Canadian media critic Joe Emersberger

"Corporate media pump 'news' that promotes their interests, their corporate advertisers' interests, corporate-friendly parties' and governments' interests to wealthy media consumers who often work for corporations. It is this system that is routinely described as a 'free press'."

Eric Zuesse, 2018

"For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence-on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed."

President John F. Kennedy, April 27, 1961

"The corporate media maintain a class bias through five systemic filters: concentrated private ownership; a strict bottom-line profit orientation; over-reliance on governmental and corporate sources for news; a primary tendency to avoid offending the powerful; and an almost religious worship of the market economy. These filters limit what will become news in society and set parameters on acceptable coverage of daily events."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"For most people, the primary source of their information is the mainstream. It is mainly television. Even the internet for all its subversiveness has still a very large component of the mainstream. And that means we're still getting its singular message about wars, about the economy, about all those things that touch our lives. All we are getting is what I would call a contrived silence, a censorship by omission. I think this is almost the principal issue of today because without information, we cannot possibly begin to influence government. We cannot possibly begin to end the wars."

John Pilger, 2009

"The major news outlets are controlled. Reporters understand the rules perfectly. You do not ever, criticize Israel. You don't say anything remotely interpretable as racist. Women are sacrosanct. The endless wars get minimal coverage and almost nothing that would upset the public. Huge military contracts get almost no mention."

Fred Reed, 2014

"Plutocrats own the mass media and the status quo-friendly voices, which creates an environment full of peer pressure to conform and workplace pressure to advance establishment-friendly narratives. Add to this the phenomenon of access journalism, wherein journalists are incentivized to cozy up to power and pitch softball questions to officials in order to gain access to them, and things get slanted. All of this can create an environment of consensus which has nothing to do with facts or reality, but rather with what narratives favor the US-centralized empire and the plutocrats who control it."

Caitlin Johnstone

"The first great large wave of Amazon book-bannings was the early 2017 purge of many dozens of scholarly texts by revisionist historians who had argued at great length and in considerable detail that the Holocaust was largely a hoax, concocted by Jewish activists and Hollywood filmmakers as a powerful shield against any criticism of Jewish or Israeli misbehavior."

Ron Unz, 2019

"It is in the interest of the corporate elites to accept dissent and protest as a feature of the system inasmuch as they do not threaten the established social order. The purpose is not to repress dissent, but, on the contrary, to shape and mould the protest movement, to set the outer limits of dissent. To maintain their legitimacy, the economic elites favor limited and controlled forms of opposition.. To be effective, however, the process of "manufacturing dissent" must be carefully regulated and monitored by those who are the object of the protest movement."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2010

"Noam Chomsky is the closest thing in the English-speaking world to an intellectual superstar.
... But, the bulk of the mainstream western media doesn't seem to have noticed. His books sell in their hundreds of thousands, he is mobbed by students as a celebrity, but he is rarely reported or interviewed in the US outside radical journals and websites. The explanation, of course, isn't hard to find. Chomsky is America's most prominent critic of the US imperial role in the world."

Seumas Milne, 2009

"Most Americans and Europeans get their news from state-controlled television, under the misconception that reporters are meant to serve the public. In fact, reporters do not serve the public. Reporters are paid employees and serve the media owners, whose company's shares are traded on Wall Street."

Daniel Estulin, 2015

"Amy Goodman is not the alternative media. She is the controlled opposition. She's serving the same 1% that we have been fighting against - the same people who have interests in drones, the intelligence-industrial complex, the corporate media. She is no different than those at the New York Times, Fox News or CBS. But, she is given the freedom to do a bit more real journalism for the sake of the appearance of legitimacy.
Amy Goodman has been serving the interests of Soros' Open Society and the Rockefeller Foundation for a long time. But, she has gathered a core group of people who refuse to see her as the compromised person she is today."

Sibel Edmonds, 2013

"if you produce dissenting reports, there are many ways to get you back in line quickly. If you don't follow the guidelines, you will not keep your job long. This system works pretty well, and it reflects established power structures.
... The point is that journalists wouldn't be there unless they had already demonstrated that nobody has to tell them what to write because they are going say the right thing. If they had started off at the Metro desk, or something, and had pursued the wrong kind of stories, they never would have made it to the positions where they can now say anything they like. They have been through the socialization system."

Noam Chomsky, 1997

"In all press systems, the news media are instruments of those who exercise political and economic power. Newspapers, periodicals, radio and television stations do not act independently."

former AP journalist Herbert Altschull

"The source of 'fake news' is a journalism self-anointed with a false respectability: a 'liberal' journalism that claims to challenge corrupt state power but, in reality, courts and protects it."

John Pilger, 2018

"Modern censorship can be seen as the subtle yet constant and sophisticated manipulation of reality in our mass media outlets. On a daily basis, censorship refers to the intentional non-inclusion of a news story - or piece of a news story - based on anything other than a desire to tell the truth. Such manipulation can take the form of political pressure (from government officials and powerful individuals), economic pressure (from advertisers and funders), and legal pressure (the threat of lawsuits from deep-pocket individuals, corporations, and institutions). or threats to reduce future access to governmental and corporate sources of news."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"Even open-minded people will often find themselves unable to take seriously the likes of Noam Chomsky, Edward Herman, Howard Zinn and Susan George on first encountering their work; it just does not seem possible that we could be so mistaken in what we believe. The individual may assume that these writers must be somehow joking, wildly over-stating the case, paranoid, or have some sort of axe to grind. We may actually become angry with them for telling us these terrible things about our society and insist that this simply 'can't be true'. It takes real effort to keep reading, to resist the reassuring messages of the mass media and be prepared to consider the evidence again."

David Edwards - Burning All Illusions

"You don't need to ban unwelcome books, because the only people who read them already agree with them. You don't need t kick in doors at three in the morning to seize forbidden typewriters. People might revolt against that sort of thing. Just keep prohibited topics off the networks and out of the papers. It is enough."

Fred Reed, 2014

"Reporters will not report their own insights or contrary evaluations of the official 9/11 story, because to question the government story about 9/11 is to question the very foundations of our entire modern belief system regarding our government, our country, and our way of life. To be charged with questioning these foundations is far more serious than being labeled a disgruntled conspiracy nut or an anti-government traitor, or even being sidelined or marginalized within an academic, government-service, or literary career. To question the official 9/11 story is simply and fundamentally revolutionary."

9/11 and American Empire : Intellectuals Speak Out
Edited by David Ray Griffin and Peter Dale Scott

"Secretive and unaccountable government agencies have an extensive and well-documented record of involving themselves with news media outlets. It is a known and undisputed fact that the Central Intelligence Agency has been intimately involved in America's news media since the 1950s, and it remains so to this day."

Caitlin Johnstone

"To keep information from the public is the function of the corporate media."

Gore Vidal

"The factual arguments clearly establish the possibility of controlled demolition of the WTC buildings on September 11, 2001, yet, there is almost zero coverage in the corporate media in the US. This is top down corporate censorship pure and simple. Even if other scientists can be found to disagree with the study, the policy of ignoring the topic inside the corporate media is relatively absolute... Perhaps the mainstream science journalists left their critical thinking skills at home and gave the scientific method the day off. Or maybe the real conspiracy exists within the boardrooms of the corporate mainstream media."

Peter Phillips, 2009

"Amazon today possesses a near-total monopoly over Internet book sales, and if American society continues to allow it to ban serious works of scholarship on political or ideological grounds, our future intellectual freedom has already been lost."

Ron Unz, 2019

* Our traditional media - which are predominantly financed by advertising or the state, represent the geopolitical interests of the transatlantic alliance.
... Our leading media and their key people are often themselves part of the networks of the transatlantic elite. Some of the most important institutions in this regard include the US Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the Bilderberg Group, and the Trilateral Commission."

globalresearch.ca, 2016

"The involvement of the Rockefellers with the media has multiple implications. One is that the Rockefeller gang's plans for monopolistic World Government are never, but never, discussed in the machines of mass disinformation. The media decides what the issues will be in the country."

Gary Allen in his book "The Rockefeller File"

"One of the best kept secrets is the degree to which a handful of giant conglomerates, all belonging to the secret Bilderberg Group, Council on Foreign Relations, NATO, the Club of Rome, and the Trilateral Commission, control the world's flow of information. They determine what we see on television, hear on the radio and read in newspapers, magazines, books, or on the Internet."

Daniel Estulin in his book "The Bilderberg Group"

"If advertisers, and corporate sponsors generally, tend to support media which boost their message, and these media consequently tend to flourish relative to those not so supported, then we have one example of a tight system of control that does not at all require a conspiracy theory but simply the operation of market forces. For advertiser control clearly extends to the detail of the contents and tone of media. "

David Edwards in his book "Burning All Illusions"

"Most journalists joined in with the government in declaring WikiLeaks to be an enemy. And even worse than that, the government started talking about prosecuting WikiLeaks, which would be one of the gravest threats to our free press, the idea that you can be turned into a criminal for writing about classified government secrets or exposing covert government actions. Even then very few journalists stood up for WikiLeaks and said to the government, "This is something that you cannot and should not do."

Glenn Greenwald, 2011

"The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR} control or own major newspapers, magazines, radio and television networks [and] the most powerful companies in the book publishing business. (The Associated Press, New York Times, Washington Post, and LA Times have their own wire services, which most mainstream news outlets use.)"

Admiral Chester Ward, former CFR member

"The main shortcoming of the establishment media lies in errors of omission, much more than errors of commission. It's not that they tell bald lies so much as it is that they leave out parts of stories or entire stories, or historical reminders, which if included might put the issue in a whole new light, in a way not compatible with their political biases."

William Blum in his book "Freeing the World to Death"

"There were huge marches in 2003 prior to the Iraq war, against the war. There were hundreds of thousands of people, millions of people throughout Europe marching in the streets against the war. And yet, the mainstream media virtually excluded those demonstrations from the narrative, because they're threatening, threatening to the people who have a vested interest in having the system continue unchanged."

Glenn Greenwald, 2009

"Bilderberg is a powerful assembly of the world's leading financiers, industrialists and political operatives. It includes such internationalists as banker David Rockefeller, heads of state in Europe and high officials of the U.S. government, White House, Defense, State, Congress and others.
... High officials of The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Los Angeles Times and of all three major networks have attended Bilderberg many times, on the promise of secrecy, to report nothing and to not use the word "Bilderberg.

Jim Tucker's Bilderberg Diary

"During its first fifty years of existence, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) was almost never mentioned by any of the moguls of the mass media. When you realize that the membership of the CFR includes top executives from the New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Knight Newspaper chain, NBC, CBS, Time, Life, Fortune, Business Week, US News and World Report, and many others, you can be sure that such anonymity is not accidental."

Gary Allen

"In the United States today, the rift between reality and reporting has peaked. There is no longer a mere credibility gap, but rather a literal Truth Emergency in which the most important information affecting people is concealed from view. Many Americans, relying on the mainstream corporate media, have serious difficulty accessing the truth while still believing that the information they receive is the reality. A Truth Emergency reflects cumulative failures of the fourth estate to act as a truly free press."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"The story of an attempted takeover of executive power in the United States [the plot to overthrow Franklin Roosevelt] was suppressed, not only by parties directly interested, but also by several institutions usually regarded as protectors of constitutional liberty and freedom of inquiry. Among the groups suppressing information were (1) the Congress of the United States, (2) the press, notably Time [magazine] and The New York Times, and (3) the White House itself. It is also notable that no academic inquiry has been conducted into what is surely one of the more ominous events in recent American history."

Antony C. Sutton in his book "Wall Street and FDR"

"In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interest, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily pressThey found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest papers. An agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interests of the purchasers."

Congressman Oscar Callaway (TX), Congressional Record of February 9, 1917

"Tens of thousands of Americans engaged in various social justice issues constantly witness how corporate media marginalize, denigrate, or simply ignore their concerns. Activist groups working on issues like 9/11 Truth, election fraud, impeachment in the Bush era, war propaganda, civil liberties abridgements, torture, the Wall Street meltdown, and corporate-caused environmental crises have been systematically excluded from mainstream news."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years. GLOBAL POWER ELITE & THE "GREAT RESET"

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA DEFEND THE SOVEREIGNTY OF THE UNITED STATES AND ARE COMMITTED TO PRESERVING AMERICA AND STRENGTHENING THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE.

THE REALITY:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE THE PROPAGANDA ARM OF A GLOBAL OLIGARCHY. THEY ARE PART OF THE FINANCIAL-CORPORATE-TECH-MILITARY-SURVEILLANCE-GOVERNMENT-MEDIA COMPLEX -- OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE "DEEP STATE".

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA'S JOB IS TO CONVINCE THE PUBLIC THAT THE IDEAS OF THE GLOBAL ELITE ARE IN THEIR BEST INTEREST, AND TO CONCEAL HOW THE GLOBAL OLIGARCHY PLANS TO DESTROY AMERICA AND RAVAGE LIVES IN COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD.

"The plan for an overhaul of the world is the brainchild of an elite group of businessmen, politicians, and their intellectual entourage that meet in Davos, Switzerland, in January each year. Brought into existence in 1971, the World Economic Forum (WEF) has become a megaglobal event since then. More than three thousand leaders from all over the world attended the meeting in 2020.
Under the guidance of the WEF, the agenda of the Great Reset says that the completion of the current industrial transformation requires a thorough overhaul of the economy, politics, and society.
... The consensus has emerged at the annual Davos meetings that the world needs a revolution, and that reforms have taken too long. The members of the WEF envision a profound upheaval at short notice. The time span should be so brief that most people will hardly realize that a revolution is going on. The change must be so swift and dramatic that those who recognize that a revolution is happening do not have the time to mobilize against it.
... Projects like the Great Reset leave unanswered the question of who rules the state. The state itself does not rule. It is an instrument of power. It is not the abstract state that decides, but the leaders of specific political parties and of certain social groups.
Earlier totalitarian regimes needed mass executions and concentration camps to maintain their power. Now, with the help of new technologies, it is believed, dissenters can easily be identified and marginalized. The nonconformists will be silenced by disqualifying divergent opinions as morally despicable.
... The 2020 lockdown worked as if it had been orchestrated - and perhaps it was. As if following a single command, the leaders of big and small nations - and of different stages of economic development - implemented almost identical measures. Not only did many governments act in unison, they also applied these measures with little regard for the horrific consequences of a global lockdown.
Months of economic stillstand have destroyed the economic basis of millions of families. Together with social distancing, the lockdown has produced a mass of people unable to care for themselves. First, governments destroyed the livelihood, then the politicians showed up as the savior.
... The lockdown and its consequences have brought a foretaste what is to come: a permanent state of fear, strict behavioral control, massive loss of jobs, and growing dependence on the state."

Anthony Mueller, 2020

"The global elite who meet every year at Davos, Switzerland have little need for national loyalty. They view national boundries as obstacles, that are vanishing, and they see national governments as residues from the past, whose only useful function is to facilitate the elites global operations."

Samuel Huntington

"The World Economic Forum's (WEF) agenda matches goals set out by the United Nations Agenda 2030.
In the future, the less-developed world will not rise to the developed, rather the other way, as advanced civilizations must go down to their living standards to become 'sustainable'."

TOTT News, 2020

"The lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic has accelerated the implementation of long-held plans to establish a new world order. Under the auspices of the World Economic Forum (WEF), global policymakers are advocating for a "Great Reset" with the intent of creating a global technocracy.
A consensus has emerged at the annual WEF/Davos meetings that the world needs a revolution, and that reforms have taken too long. The members of the WEF envision a profound upheaval at short notice. The change must be so swift and dramatic that those who recognize that a revolution is happening do not have the time to mobilize against it.
Earlier totalitarian regimes needed mass executions and concentration camps to maintain their power. Now, with the help of new technologies, dissenters can easily be identified and marginalized. The nonconformists will be silenced by disqualifying divergent opinions as morally despicable.
The 2020 lockdowns offer a preview of how this system works. The lockdown worked as if it had been orchestrated. As if following a single command, the leaders of big and small nations implemented almost identical measures. Not only did many governments act in unison, they also applied these measures with little regard for the consequences of a global lockdown.
Months of economic standstill have destroyed the economic basis of millions of families. Together with social distancing, the lockdown has produced a mass of people unable to care for themselves. First, governments destroyed the livelihood, then the politicians showed up as the savior.
The lockdown and its consequences have brought a foretaste what is to come: a permanent state of fear, strict behavioral control, massive loss of jobs, and growing dependence on the state."

Anthony Mueller, 2020

"The Global Power Elite works out policies to advance their interests with regard to the management and protection of global capital and the enforcement of debt collection worldwide They are strategically placed to impose these policies through their members' positions within individual states and transnational state institutions. The enormous concentrations of economic power translate into enormous influence over global policymaking.
The Global Power Elites of the Transnational Capitalist Class make efforts to protect their interests through global organizations like the World Bank, World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, the G20, G7, World Economic Forum, Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group, Bank for International Settlements, and other transnational associations... Within this system, nation-states become little more than population containment zones, and the real power lies with the decision makers who control global capital."

Peter Phillips, 2018

"Yearly the World Economic Forum (WEF)/Davos brings together the world's most powerful CEO's along with governmental policy decision-makers.
... The World Economic Forum is a facilitator for the goals and objectives of the United Nations - which is world government."

Joan Veon,2005

"The current crime against humanity has been unleashed worldwide by the "Big Money", the globalists, foundations, Big Pharma and the WHO on the occasion of the "global corona false alarm", together with the hypocritical promises of salvation of the World Economic Forum and the predatory International Monetary Fund, then we cannot assume a de-globalization and a turning away from inhuman neoliberalism. The ruling "elite" will use the meeting in Davos to further advance the global control by destroying nation states. "

Rudolf Hänsel, 2020

"The Global Power Elite constitutes 6,000 to 7,000 people, or 0.0001 percent of the world's population. They are the Davos-attending, Gulfstream/ private jet-flying, megacorporation-interlocked, policy-building elites of the world-people at the absolute peak of the global power pyramid. These are the people setting the agendas at the G8, (now the G7 after the exclusion of Russia), G20, NATO, the World Bank, and the WTO. They are from the highest levels of finance capital, transnational corporations, the government, the military, the academy, nongovernmental organizations, spiritual leaders, and even shadow elites. They represent the interests of several hundred thousand millionaires and billionaires who comprise the richest people in the top 1 percent of the world's wealth hierarchy."

Peter Phillips, 2018

"Think tanks are created with the intent to bring elite interests together from a wide array of institutions: financial, industrial, corporate, academic/intellectual, media, cultural, foreign policy and political spheres. In think tanks, top officials from these sectors are gathered in a single institution where they work together to plan strategies for economic and foreign policies, for establishing consensus between elites, and to serve as training and recruitment grounds for officials to enter the political and foreign policy establishment, where they are capable of enacting the very policies developed within the think tanks. Notable think tanks with immense influence - specifically in the United States - include the Council on Foreign Relations, the Brookings Institution, the Carnegie Endowment, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Larger, international think tanks have been increasingly common during the era of globalization, uniting respective elites from across the powerful western industrial states, instead of simply the elites within each respective state. Notable among these institutions are the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderberg Group and the World Economic Forum."

Andrew Gavin Marshall, 2014

AMERICAN DEMOCRACY AND THE POLITICAL CLASS

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ASSERT THAT THE UNITED STATES IS A DEMOCRACY, A NATION OF, FOR AND BY THE PEOPLE, WHERE CITIZENS VOTE FOR LEADERS WHO DUTIFULLY ACT IN THEIR INTEREST AND IN THE LONG-TERM INTEREST OF THE COUNTRY, AND PROMOTE DEMOCRACY, PEACE AND JUSTICE AROUND THE WORLD.

THE REALITY:

THE UNITED STATES IS NOT A DEMOCRACY. IT IS AN OLIGARCHY.

AN ENTRENCHED 'ESTABLISHMENT' USES ITS WEALTH AND INFLUENCE TO CONTROL THE STATE AND TO ESTABLISH AGENDAS FAVORABLE TO THEIR INTERESTS, AND TO DIRECT POLITICAL LEADERS, THROUGH BRIBERY (CAMPAIGN FUNDING), COERCION (LOBBISTS) AND MEDIA MANPULATION (PROPAGANDA), TO ADVANCE POLICIES THAT ENRICH THE OLIGARCHY AND ITS CLASS-ALLIES TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE PEOPLE AND THE COUNTRY.

"I wouldn't call it fascism exactly, but a political system nominally controlled by an irresponsible, dumbed down electorate who are manipulated by dishonest, cynical, controlled mass media that dispense the propaganda of a corrupt political establishment can hardly be described as democracy either"

columnist Edward Zehr

"What is the one thing that brings Republicans and Democrats together? War. They love it, the more, the better. Forever war, perpetual war."

Sen Rand Paul, 2019

"The two parties are in fundamental agreement about the underlying economic, political and military structures which are largely responsible for our decline. The power elites do not question the permanent war economy, unfettered capitalism and the rise of the security state, and voices that do are, in effect, censored out of the commercial press because they have no power base. The lie told by newspapers and traditional news is the lie of omission, which is not as bad as the outright lies told on Fox News, but in the end it is still a lie. Our power elite are bankrupt, and the press, tethered to the elite, is as bankrupt as those it covers."

Chris Hedges

"The 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruled that limits on any independent corporation's political expenditures are unconstitutional as a matter of law. Thus, the long trend of private power having undue influence over the public political process is more deeply entrenched than ever, such that lawmaking itself is conducted by the bribed, selected agents of the most powerful corporations."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"When it comes to the news media outlets which form people's perceptions of the world, what incentive would a powerful plutocrat have to platform anti-establishment voices on those outlets and help sow ideas which upset the status quo upon which said plutocrat has built his empire? It certainly wouldn't make him any more money, and if anti-establishment ideas like socialism, anarchism, non-interventionism or skepticism of government agencies gained popular footing in public consciousness, it could upset the foundation of the plutocrat's dynasty and cause him to lose everything."

Caitlin Johnstone

"All the public concern about "fake news" was just a ruse - the tech giants were just pretending to care about it. The real objective was to appease angry politicians by finding an excuse to erase and de-rank opinions that don't conform to the dispositions and leanings that dominate the executive suites of the largest tech companies and the power players in establishment Washington D.C."

Michael Krieger , 2019

"Presidents Clinton and Bush Jr. avoided the Vietnam War, Clinton through educational privilege, Bush through being the son of his father. President Obama never went to war. Vice Presidents Dan Quayle, Dick Cheney, and Joe Biden, like Clinton and Bush Jr., dodged the draft."

David Swanson, 2010

"What you have now are the leading journalists of America working for the largest corporations. They're incredibly well-paid. They are essentially not really journalists but media stars or celebrities. They are admitted into the highest levels of powerful. They're part of it. Socioeconomically, they have much more in common with the powerful political people they're supposed to be covering, then they do what the ordinary Americans for whom they are supposed to be speaking."

Glenn Greenwald, 2011

"The two greatest obstacles to democracy in the United States are, first, the widespread delusion among the poor that we have a democracy, and second, the chronic terror among the rich, lest we get it."

Edward Dowling, 1941

"American democracy serves the interests of the United States ruling elite - stability and prosperity. Stability means control of the population. The West is stable because the population is under control by the social engineering process that came with the development of our modern democracy - the propaganda system, the public relations system, the education system, and the consumer society.
The consumer society is a system of social engineering. In a consumer society, people are concerned not about the world, not about life, not about freedom and democracy. They are concerned about buying things. So, that keeps them distracted, and it ultimately keeps them stupid, and essentially useless, except for serving the function of continuing to consume until they die."

Andrew Gavin Marshall, 2013

"The corporate media has ignored the fact that habeas corpus can now be suspended for anyone by order of the President. With the approval of Congress, the Military Commissions Act (MCA) of 2006, signed by Bush on October 17, 2006, allows for the suspension of habeas corpus for US citizens and non-citizens alike."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"The United States has entered the ranks of the failed states. One of the most remarkable manifestations of a failed state is that the criminals are all inside the government operating against the people, whereas in a normal state, the criminals are on the outside of the government, operating against it. So, we now have every manifestation of being a failed state, with the government in the hands of a few Wall Street gangsters."

Paul Craig Roberts

"We now live in a nation where doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the press destroys information, religion destroys morals, and our banks destroy the economy."

Chris Hedges

"The American public cannot make informed decisions and evaluate whether or not our economy is actually improving if we do not have all of the facts, not those that our MSM (Mainstream Media) deems acceptable for the public to read. Our Mainstream News Media presents the clearest danger to our Liberty and Freedom, and if they don't start reporting the news, not propaganda, the ability of the American public to remain an "informed public" is in danger of falling into the pitfalls that are usually associated when a communist/authoritarian/fascist government controls the news media."

William Cormier, 2010

"If you were to say to normal Americans that members of Congress leave office and make millions of dollars doing nothing other than essentially peddling influence to wealthy individuals who can have their way with Congress, most people would consider that to be corruption. Yet, to members of the media, who have spent their lives in Washington, who are friends and colleagues of the people who are engorging themselves on this corrupt system that is just a way of life. It's like breathing air or drinking water. It's not anything that's noteworthy, let alone controversial."

Glenn Greenwald, 2009

"Establishments believe in propping up the existing order. Members of the ruling class have a vested interest in keeping things pretty much the way they are. Safeguarding the status quo and protecting traditional institutions can be stabilizing and reassuring."

Newseek's Evan Thomas, 2009

"John Bolton represents America's billionaires , and the US Government does, too. It doesn't represent America's public; it represents only the individuals who overwhelmingly finance America's politicians; and those politicians, in turn, represent the 585 US billionaires' interests, and not the interests of the American public. The public are merely to be manipulated, not represented"

Eric Zuesse, 2018

"Plutocrats have put a lot of energy into influencing government policy in order to create legislation which ensures the continued growth of their wealth and power. A lot of maneuvering has had to happen over the course of many years to create a political system wherein government bribery is legal in the form of campaign finance and corporate lobbying, wherein deregulation of corporations is the norm, wherein tax loopholes are abundant and tax burdens are shifted to the middle class, wherein money hemorrhages upward to the wealthiest of the wealthy while ordinary people grow poorer and poorer. What incentive would these powerful oligarchs have to risk upsetting that delicate balancing act by helping to circulate ideas which challenge the very governmental system they've worked so hard to manipulate to their extreme advantage?
How hard would it be to simply decline to give anti-establishment voices a platform, and platform establishment loyalists instead? How easy would it be for a wealthy media owner or influential investor to ensure that only establishment loyalists are given the job of hiring and promoting editors and reporters in a mainstream media outlet?"

Caitlin Johnstone

"What doesn't get considered is that there could be anything radically wrong with Washington, that the entire institution could be broken, that there are new rules necessary. That idea, that the institutions of Washington have failed and need to be changed, doesn't really occur to the mainstream press, because they're one of those institutions. And they're one of the ones that failed."

Jay Rosen, Bill Moyer's Journal, 2009

"The general public are viewed as no more than ignorant and meddlesome outsiders, a bewildered herd. And it's the responsible men who have to make decisions and to protect society from the trampling and rage of the bewildered herd. Now since it's a democracy they - the herd, that is - are permitted occasionally to lend their weight to one or another member of the responsible class. That's called an election."

Noam Chomsky

"This is, in theory, still a free country, but our politically correct, censorious times are such that many of us tremble to give vent to perfectly acceptable views for fear of condemnation. Freedom of speech is thereby imperiled, big questions go un-debated, and great lies become accepted, unequivocally as great truths."

Simon Heffer Source: Daily Mail, 7 June 2000

"The American government could already be described as authoritarian. Due process of law and the right of habeas corpus, which for centuries have characterized the rule of law in democratic states, have been eliminated. At the discretion of the president, non-citizens and citizens alike may be classified as enemy combatants, picked up and held for an indeterminate period of time without access to counsel. A network of secret prisons and camps is being established both inside and outside of the United States. Paramilitary forces or private mercenary armies are being developed to make up for the inadequate numbers of the existing volunteer army. This is effectively resulting in the privatization of the US military."

William F. Pepper in his book "An Act of State: the Execution of Martin Luther King"

"American electoral politics had become a caricature of its former vital self: a process in which money (mostly corporate) first bought both political parties and then graciously allowed the public to choose between them."

Peter Dale Scott in his book "The Road to 9/11"

"Political leaders, who use the tools of mass propaganda to create a sense of faux intimacy with citizens, no longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest. They need only to appear to have these qualities. Most of all they need a story, a personal narrative. The reality of the narrative is irrelevant. It can be completely at odds with the facts. The consistency and emotional appeal of the story are paramount. Those who are best at deception succeed."

Chris Hedges, 2009

"If you are not willing to lie, cheat, manipulate, steal and kill to get ahead, you are never going to be the president of the United States."

Andrew Gavin Marshall

"Analysis indicates that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on US government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence.
... When the preferences of economic elites and organized interest groups are controlled for, the preferences of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.
... Our analyses suggest that majorities of the American public actually have little influence over the policies our government adopts. Americans do enjoy many features central to democratic governance, such as regular elections, freedom of speech and association, and a widespread (if still contested) franchise. But we believe that if policymaking is dominated by powerful business organizations and a small number of affluent Americans, then America's claims to being a democratic society are seriously threatened."

Martin Gilens, Professor of Politics at Princeton University

"American government is corrupt. Those who have enough money can almost get anything they want from our government, whether it is tax breaks, or subsidies, or policies and laws changed, removed, or added.
... Money controls U.S. politics as never before. As a result, the tax burden has gradually shifted from the wealthy onto the backs of the poor and the middle class.
From 1950 to 1980, the top-bracket income tax rate ranged from 70 to 90 percent, while the Social Security tax imposed on lower incomes varied from 4 to 9 percent. By 2005 the top income tax rate was down to 35 percent, but the Social Security tax had jumped to 15.3 percent. Such are the tangible benefits that moneyed donors receive from politicians.
... Today CEOs and wealthy businessmen are the ruling elite in the Western world, especially the United States. Their donations finance elections and even education, which they are constantly saying has to adapt itself to the needs of the market (that is, be molded to inculcate their views. It should come as no surprise therefore that the theories offered by economists rationalize the self-interest of big business and the wealthy. Overtly, of course, such theories claim to benefit society and the public's well-being. But covertly, they do just the opposite: they make the great mass of people poorer while making the rich fabulously richer."

Ravi Batra in his book "The New Golden Age", 2007

"The Defense Authorization Act [2007] gives the Executive the power to move National Guard units anywhere in the country, without regard for the wishes of the state governors, and to declare martial law. This declaration would authorize the detention of dissenting citizens who could then be picked up and held incommunicado for an indefinite period, without access to counsel or the courts. This is nothing short of a militarization of the Republic.
Enabled by the Defense Authorization Act, the president can now declare martial law, transfer military technology to militarized domestic police forces, and detain dissenting citizens virtually at will. These detainees could be held in camps that are now being constructed and refurbished by Kellogg Brown and Root, ostensibly for illegal immigrants.
... The unitary presidency has been granted the authority to order kidnapping, detention, and torture abroad under the Military Commissions Act of 2006. This act authorizes extraordinary rendition, which inevitably means foreign detention and torture of anyone the President determines to be an unlawful combatant."

William F. Pepper in his book "An Act of State: the Execution of Martin Luther King"

"There has been a silent coup d'etat of the monied class, an American oligarchy. Names such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, David Rockefeller, Sheldon Adelson, the Koch Brothers, George H.W. Bush and family. The top 1% have reshaped the fundamentals of American life, culture and above all politics."

F. William Engdahl

"The shaping of the will of Congress and the choosing of the American president has become a privilege reserved to the 20% of the population that holds 93% of the wealth, the happy few who run the corporations and the banks, own and operate the news and entertainment media, compose the laws and govern the universities, control the philanthropic foundations, the policy institutes, the casinos, and the sports arenas.
... Ronald Reagan's new Morning in America brought with it in the early 1980s the second coming of a gilded age more swinish than the first, and as the country continues to divide ever more obviously into a nation of the rich and a nation of the poor, the fictions of unity and democratic intent lose their capacity to command belief."

Lewis H. Lapham

"In theory, the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 adopted in the wake of the US civil war, prevents the military from intervening in civilian police and judicial functions. This law has been central to the functioning of constitutional government.
While the Posse Comitatus Act is still on the books, in practice the legislation is no longer effective in preventing the militarization of civilian institutions.
Both the legislation inherited from the Clinton administration and the post 9/11 PATRIOT Acts I and II have blurred the line between military and civilian roles. They allow the military to intervene in judicial and law enforcement activities even in the absence of an emergency situation."

Michel Chossudovsky in his book " America's War on Terrorism"

"What is masquerading as government is a crime syndicate with a flag. The US Government is an instrument of organized crime, alternatively described as the Octopus, the Washington Consensus, the Shadow Government, Wall Street, the Round Table (Bilderbergs, Trilaterals, Council on Foreign Relations, Royal Institute of International Affairs), and the New World Order."

Nikki Alexander, 2009

"9/11 clearly, without any doubt, destroyed American liberty. Even if you are so brainwashed as to believe an obviously false story of the event, even if you believe that a few Saudi Arabians without government or intelligence service support outwitted all 16 US intelligence agencies, the National Security Council, all intelligence agencies of Washington's vassals abroad, outwitted Israel's Mossad, US Air Traffic Control, caused US Airport Security to fail four times in one hour on the same day, and prevented for the first time in history the US Air Force from sending fighters to intercept off course airliners, the fact remains the same: the US government used 9/11 to destroy the constitutional protections of US liberty."

Paul Craig Roberts

THE INDISPENSIBLE NATION

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSREAM MEDIA CONTEND THAT THE UNITED STATES IS A BENEVOLENT SUPERPOWER, HAS NO IMPERIAL AMBITIONS, RESPECTS THE SOVEREIGNTY OF ALL NATIONS, AND IS COMMITTED TO THE IDEA THAT COUNTRIES SHOULD BE FREE TO RESOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS WITHOUT OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ASSURES AMERICANS THAT ALTHOUGH THE U.S. SOMETIMES MAKES MISTAKES, IT MEANS WELL, AND ONLY USES FORCE WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO PRESERVE PEACE, JUSTICE, HUMAN RIGHTS AND DEMOCRACY IN THE WORLD.

THE REALITY:

AMERICA IS AN EMPIRE AND AN AGGRESSIVE MILITARY HEGEMON.

POLITICIANS OF BOTH MAJOR PARTIES, DEEP STATE ACTORS AND THE MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL-SURVEILLANCE-COMPLEX, SUPPORT A "WASHINGTON CONSENSUS" OF UNRESTRAINED AGGRESSION AGAINST "UNCOOPERATIVE" COUNTRIES AND, ULTIMATELY, GLOBAL CONTROL.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA CHAMPION AGGRESSION - ECONOMIC, ELECTRONIC, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND MILITARY - AGAINST ANY COUNTRY THAT DOES NOT SURRENDER TO U.S. INTERESTS.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ROUTINELY BACK DICTATORSHIPS AND AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENTS THAT THE U.S. ESTABLISHMENT SUPPORTS, WHILE CONSISTANTLY SUPPORTING THE REGIME CHANGE OF DEMOCRATICALLY-ELECTED GOVERNMENTS THAT DO NOT YIELD TO U.S. COMMERCIAL AND STRATEGIC INTERESTS.

IRAN, AFGHANISTAN, IRAQ, SYRIA, YEMEN, LIBYA, SOMALIA, SUDAN, CONGO (DRC), ANGOLA, VENEZUELA, NICARAGUA, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HONDURAS, CHILE, BOLIVIA, ECUADOR, PANAMA, YUGOSLAVIA, RUSSIA, CHINA, NORTH KOREA, VIETNAM, LAOS, CAMBODIA, AND MANY OTHER COUNTRIES, HAVE SUFFERED CHAOS AND MISERY AS A THE RESULT OF UNITED STATES' MILITARY AND ECONOMIC AGGRESSION.

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright

"The Plan is for the United States to rule the world. The overt theme is unilateralism, but it is ultimately a story of domination. It calls for the United States to maintain its overwhelming superiority and prevent new rivals from rising up to challenge it on the world stage. It calls for dominion over friends and enemies alike. It says not that the United States must be more powerful, or most powerful, but that it must be absolutely powerful. "

Vice-President Dick Cheney - West Point lecture, June 2002

"Two million civilians killed/ murdered in North Viet Nam; 2 million civilians killed/ murdered in South Viet Nam (out of 17 million population in the South, or 12 percent); 1.1 million North Vietnamese fighters killed, plus 223,748 South Vietnamese fighters killed. Total Vietnamese killed: over 5.32 million. Total Southeast Asians killed: 5.32 million Vietnamese, plus 600,000 Cambodians, plus 350,000 Laotians equals 6.27 million."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"Julian Assange's Wikileaks revelations struck at the very foundations on which the edifice of "American exceptionalism" is built, namely, the democracy that is meant to be a light unto the world, and the "just wars" that flow from a missionary zeal to make the world safe for democracy. The media and politicians accordingly crow about the high-tech weaponry that will be employed in the ensuing humanitarian interventions, while omitting to mention that the military-industrial complex that benefits so much from endless wars may be the very donors who fund the warmongering politicians into office, and that the warmongering editorial line of newspapers may be influenced by share portfolios of the editors themselves.
Releasing footage of US military personal laughing as they slaughter dozens of clearly unarmed Iraqis civilians from the distant safety of an Apache helicopter is one of the strongest ways of showing how false, artificial and propagandistic the concept of "humanitarian war" and "responsibility to protect" (R2P) is."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"We do not want stability in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and even Saudi Arabia; we want things to change. The real issue is not whether, but how to destabilize."

neocon Michal Ledeen, Wall Street Journal in 2002

"Since the end of world War II the United States has:
* endeavored to overthrow more than 50 foreign governments, most of which were democratically elected;'
* grossly interfered in democratic elections in at least 30 countries
* attempted to assassinate more than 50 foreign leaders
* dropped bombs on the people of more than 30 countries
* attempted to suppress a populist or nationalist movement in 20 countries.
Since 1945, the United States has carried out one or more of the above-listed actions, on one or more occasions, in seventy-one countries (more than one-third of the countries of the world), in the process of which the US has ended the lives of several million people, condemned many millions more to a life of agony and despair and has been responsible for the torture of countless thousands."

William Blum

"When the corporate elites trample on other peoples and states to advance their own selfish interests, our dominant media cannot allow its reporting to frame the events honestly. For the western media, our leaders make mistakes, they are naïve or even stupid, but they are never bad or evil. Our media do not call for Bush or Blair to be tried at the Hague as war criminals."

Jonathan Cook, 2011

"Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival... This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power... First the US must show the leadership necessary to establish and protect a new order that holds the promise of convincing potential competitors that they need not aspire to a greater role or pursue a more aggressive posture to protect their legitimate interests."

neocon Paul Wolfowitz in the "Defense Planning Guidance"

"The most significant facts and lessons of the US intervention in Vietnam - its utter lawlessness, in committing the Nuremberg crime of unprovoked aggression (considered the ultimate crime against peace); the volume and magnitude of atrocities and war crimes committed on the ground and from the air; the systematic crimes against humanity - will never be mentioned."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"American foreign policy remains as focused on oil as it was when it invaded Iraq. U.S. policy is to treat Venezuela as an extension of the U.S. economy, running a trade surplus in oil to spend in the United States or transfer its savings to U.S. banks.
By imposing sanctions that prevent Venezuela from gaining access to its U.S. bank deposits and the assets of its state-owned Citco, the United States is making it impossible for Venezuela to pay its foreign debt. This is forcing it into default, which U.S. diplomats hope to use as an excuse to foreclose on Venezuela's oil resources and seize its foreign assets.
Just as U.S. policy under Kissinger was to make Chile's "economy scream," so the U.S. is following the same path against Venezuela. It is using that country as a "demonstration effect" to warn other countries not to act in their self-interest in any way that prevents their economic surplus from being siphoned off by U.S. investors."

Michael Hudson, 2019

"The leadership class in the US is dominated by a neo-conservative group of some several hundred people who share a goal of asserting US military power worldwide. This Global Dominance Group (GDM) continues under both Republican and Democratic rule. In cooperation with major military contractors, the corporate media, and conservative foundations, the GDM has become a powerful long-term force in military unilateralism and US political processes."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"No stages. This is total war. We are fighting a variety of enemies. There are lots of them out there. All this talk about first we are going to do Afghanistan, then we will do Iraq, then we take a look around and see how things stand. This is entirely the wrong way to go about it... If we just let our vision of the world go forth, and we embrace it entirely, and we don't try to piece together clever diplomacy, but just wage a total war ... our children will sing great songs about us years from now."

neocon Richard Perle

"Because the United States does not look like a militarized country, it's hard for Americans to grasp that Washington is a war capital, that the United States is a war state, that it garrisons much of the planet, and that the norm for us is to be at war somewhere at any moment."

Tom Engelhardt, TomDispatch, 2009

"A feature of U.S. coups is the role of the Western media in publicizing official cover stories and suppressing factual journalism. This role has also been consistent since 1953, but it has evolved as corporate media have consolidated their monopoly power... By only reporting official cover stories, they become unwitting co conspirators in the critical propaganda component of these operations. But the U.S. corporate media have turned vice into virtue, relishing their role in the demonization of America's chosen enemies and cheerleading U.S. efforts to do them in. They brush U.S. responsibility for violence and chaos under the carpet, and sympathetically present U.S. policy as a well-meaning effort to respond to the irrational and dangerous behavior of others."

blacklistednews.com, 2014

"According to the Defense Department's 2007 Base Structure Report, we maintain 823 military facilities in 39 foreign countries, and another 86 facilities in seven U.S. territories."

Paul Waldman, 2008

"The term 'war' is pathetically applied to any violent rape by the American War Machine of any putative "enemy", regardless of the incommensurate forces involved, often when the victim - not even a legitimate adversary - has no capacity at all to strike back or defend itself.
This suits the psychopaths who govern us perfectly, which is no surprise considering what they are. The system of War Capitalism that owns their contemptible, diseased souls can only burgeon and grow fatter by extortion of literally uncountable sums of our money, every dollar diverted from any beneficent use in our society or the least social profit for our people.
The tragedy - no surprise, either - is that the American people are so deeply steeped in the pretty poison of Exceptionalism that they are, if not overtly, then tacitly, fully behind the mindless military vandalizing and brutalization of people just like them in all essentials: powerless.
So far gone are we as a culture in the adulation, if not worship, of our own state primacy and the infliction of horror and death on which it is based, that even women, creators and nurturers of life, including many prominent ones, betray their higher selves by supporting our indefensible state murder of hundreds of thousands of their distant sisters and helpless children.
Four CEOs of the five giant industrial purveyors of death and destruction - Northrup Grumann, General Dynamics, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin - are now women. That Glass Ceiling was apparently shot out, not broken."

Paul Edwards, 2019

"The West is habituated to the idea that the world is its world; that the international community is its community; that international institutions are its institutions; that the world currency - namely the dollar - is its currency; that universal values are its values; that world history is its history; and that the world's language - namely English - is its language. The assumption has been that the adjective 'Western' naturally and implicitly belongs in front of each important noun. That will no longer be the case."

"When Columbus invaded the New World, there were as many as eighteen million indigenous inhabitants living north of the Rio Grande, in perhaps six hundred autonomous tribal cultures speaking as many as two thousand languages. 61 Systematic elimination by starvation, disease, murder, and utter hopelessness/ suicide of over ninety-eight percent of the millions of Indigenous inhabitants caused their numbers to plummet to 250 thousand by 1900."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"Washington desperately needs to stop the rollback of American power, stop the erosion of the dollar, block the economic integration of Eurasia and Latin America, keep Russia from trading amicably with Euripe. It will do anything to maintain its grip. All of its remote wars in far-off savage lands, of no importance to America or Americans, are to this purpose. A militarized America threatens Russia, threatens China, threatens Iran, threatens North Korea, threatens Venezuela, expands NATO, on and on.
America has been hijacked."

Fred Reed, 2018

"Pro-U.S. policies made Venezuela a polarized Latin American oligarchy. Despite being nominally rich in oil revenue, its wealth was concentrated in the hands of a pro-U.S. oligarchy that let its domestic development be steered by the World Bank and IMF. The indigenous population, especially its rural racial minority as well as the urban underclass, was excluded from sharing in the country's oil wealth. The oligarchy's arrogant refusal to share the wealth, or even to make Venezuela self-sufficient in essentials, made the election of Hugo Chavez a natural outcome.
... Chavez sought to restore a mixed economy to Venezuela, using its government revenue - mainly from oil - to develop infrastructure and domestic spending on health care, education, employment to raise living standards and productivity for his electoral constituency.
What he was unable to do was to clean up the embezzlement and built-in rake-off of income from the oil sector. And he was unable to stem the capital flight of the oligarchy, taking its wealth and moving it abroad."

Michael Hudson, 2019

"What's the point of having this superb military that you're always talking about if we can't use it?"

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright

"In the case of U.S. foreign policy, both parties are beholden to an enormous global military complex, and accept the right of the United States, and the United States alone, to invade countries when it suits U.S. interests. In matters of war and foreign policy, journalists who question the basic assumptions and policy objectives and who attempt to raise issues no one in either party wishes to debate are considered 'ideological' and 'unprofessional. This has a powerful disciplinary effect upon journalists."

Robert W. McChesney and John Nichols, 2010

"In the Middle East and Southwest Asia, our overall objective is to remain the predominant outside power in the region and preserve U.S. and Western access to the region's oil."

"There have been overt military interventions by the US into dozens of countries, a staggering 390 since the end of World War II, and thousands of covert interventions since 1947. This reality overwhelms any rhetoric about the United States being committed to equal justice under law, or being a beacon of freedom and democracy for the rest of the world... Millions of people around the globe have been murdered with total impunity as a result of our interventions. Our American Way Of Life (AWOL) is fiercely protected with the use of force and violence when a country or movement chooses to protect the domestic needs of its own members and citizens aspiring for democratization, better living standards, and expansion of human rights and opportunities. Such Indigenous and sovereign goals are perceived as threatening to the US's easy access to the human and material resources required to assure continuation of the insatiably consumptive AWOL."

"US Special Operations Forces are deployed in 132 countries.

"While securing corporate control over extensive oil reserves and pipeline routes along the Eurasian corridor on behalf of the AngloAmerican oil giants, Washington's ultimate objective is to eventually destabilize and then colonize both China and Russia. This means the takeover of their national financial systems and the control over monetary policy, leading eventually to the imposition of the US dollar as the national currency."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2005

"Because the self-image of the United States has been built on collective denial of the painful realities of the dispossession of others - Indigenous inhabitants in the Americas, Africans, and Third World peoples - fantasy politics in the US has become a way of life. Our collective fantasy is consistently reinforced by virtually all our education, entertainment, political discourse, religious sermonizing, sports, etc. Most of us have been emotionally and intellectually programmed in the perpetuation of the heroic myths of our origins, and the consequential feelings of righteousness that have led us into war after war."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"It would be some time before I fully realized that the United States sees little need for diplomacy. Power is enough. Only the weak rely on diplomacy The Roman Empire had no need for diplomacy. Nor does the United States."

Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Secretary-General of the United Nations from January 1992 to December 1996

"For the world as a whole, the CIA has now become the bogey that communism has been for America. Wherever there is trouble, violence, suffering, tragedy, the rest of us are now quick to suspect the CIA had a hand in it. Our phobia about the CIA is, no doubt, as fantastically excessive as America's phobia about world communism; but in this case, too, there is just enough convincing guidance to make the phobia genuine. In fact, the roles of America and Russia have been reversed in the world's eyes. Today America has become the nightmare."

Arnold Toynbee, the British historian, quoted in the New York Times of May 7, 1971

"Make the American people realize they are surrounded in the world by violent extremists."

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, in an internal memo, 2007

"We first fought in the name of religion, then Communism, and now in the name of drugs and terrorism. Our excuses for global domination always change."

Serj Tankian

"U.S. and Western imperialism is the root cause of the "refugee crisis". Everyday men, women, and children are killed by U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan, U.S. and Western-backed militias in Afghanistan, Syria, and Somalia, European and North American mining and oil conglomerates in Central and Western Africa, or are starved to death in Yemen by the U.S.-backed Arab blockade of the country. Until the genocidal aims of U.S. imperialism, with the support of Canada, Australia, the European Union, and regional allies, are defeated, the "war on terror" will continue to make life too unbearable for working people in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to remain in their home countries."

T.J. Petrowski, 2015

"The America of wealth and privilege is hooked on war, without regular and ever-stronger doses of war it can no longer function properly, that is, yield the desired profits. The President has already pointed his finger at those whose turn will soon come, namely, the "axis of evil" countries: Iran, Syria, Libya, Somalia, North Korea, and of course that old thorn in the side of America, Cuba. Welcome to the 21st century. Welcome to the brave new era of permanent war."

Jacques R. Pauwels, 2003

"What's the point of having this superb military that you're always talking about if we can't use it?"

Madeline Albright, Secretary of State under Bill Clinton

"By one estimate, as many as four million Muslims have died or been killed as a result of the ongoing conflicts that Washington has either initiated or been party to since 2001.
There are, in addition, millions of displaced persons who have lost their homes and livelihoods, many of whom are among the human wave currently engulfing Europe. There are currently an estimated 2,590,000 refugees who have fled their homes from Afghanistan, 370,000 from Iraq, 3,880,000 million from Syria, and 1,100,000 from Somalia. The United Nations Refugee Agency is expecting at least 130,000 refugees from Yemen as fighting in that country accelerates. Between 600,000 and one million Libyans are living precariously in neighboring Tunisia.
... Significantly, the countries that have generated most of the refugees are all places where the United States has invaded, overthrown governments, supported insurgencies, or intervened in a civil war."

Philip Giraldi, 2015

"The U.S., with $37.8 billion in arms sales ... controlled 68.4% of the global arms market in 2008... with 70% of the market, the U.S. actually has what, in any other field, would qualify as a monopoly position."

Tom Engelhardt, TomDispatch, 2009

"In the wars in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan and Syria, America has destroyed any significant progress those nations had made in education, healthcare, infrastructure such as water treatment and electricity, postal services, courts. By degrading the standards of living for people in perceived "hostile" nations, America's ruling elite empowers itself, while claiming that it has ensured the safety and prestige of the American people. Sometimes it is even able to convince the public that its criminal actions are "humanitarian" and designed to liberate the people in nations it destroys."

Douglas Valentine, 2017

"Every ten years or so, the United States needs to pick up some crappy little country and throw it against the wall, just to show the world we mean business."

neocon Michael Ledeen

"The US government has not publicly identified - nor even estimated - the number of Iraqis, Afghanis, Libyans and Syrians it has killed, or caused to be killed, during its invasions, occupations, and CIA-led insurgencies. Neither is anyone in the media publicly counting the number of Muslims the US has killed, crippled, rendered homeless, starved, driven into poverty and despair, and/or condemned to disease and insanity.
... US leaders have sought to keep the ugliness of these wars - the mangled bodies, the burned-off faces, the squalid refugee camps, the abused captives -out of the press and away from the public's consciousness, in order to preserve the pretense of moral superiority that defines American "exceptionalism."

Guy Debord

"The "Anglo-American axis" in defense and foreign policy is the driving force behind the military operations in Central Asia and Middle East. This rapprochement between London and Washington is consistent with the integration of British and American business interests in the areas of banking, oil and the defense industry."

Michel Chossudovsky in his book " America's War on Terrorism"

"Yes, over 100 people died in Paris (November 2015). While thousands are dying in Yemen, every month... While 17,000 already vanished in Iran - victims of West-sponsored terrorism... While hundreds of thousands have been dying in Libya and Syria... While millions have been dying in Somalia and Iraq... While some 10 millions already died in a looted and raped DRC (the Democratic Republic of Congo) ... All of them victims of Western assaults and banditry or of Western-sponsored terrorism directly."

Andre Vltchek, 2015

"We intentionally set the bar too high for the Serbs to comply. They need some bombing, and that's what they are going to get."

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright - about the bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999

"Being at war against sanctioned enemies forms the core of US American identity, driven by a mythological notion of US American exceptionalism."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"We do not want stability in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and even Saudi Arabia; we want things to change. The real issue is not whether, but how to destabilize."

neocon Michal Ledeen

"Washington is responsible for the destruction of Yugoslavia and Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, and part of Syria. Washington has enabled Saudi Arabia's attack on Yemen, Ukraine's attack on its former Russian provinces, and Israel's destruction of Palestine and the Palestinian people."

Paul Craig Roberts, 2016

"America is the most destructive nation in history. We have overthrown more than 50 foreign governments, we have attempted to assassinate or have assassinated more than 50 foreign leaders, we have bombed more than 35 countries, we have interfered in the elections of dozens of countries."

William Blum

"Beijing believes the United States enjoys more rights because of its wealth, power, and history - not because of its greater virtue, empathy, or understanding of others. It argues that an individualizing of human rights pervades the Western human rights stance largely because of such affluence; that basic subsistence, national independence, economic and cultural transformation are often simply taken for granted."

James Peck in his book "Ideal Illusions: How the U.S. Government Co-opted Human Rights"

"Can anyone name a single daily newspaper in the United States that is unequivocally opposed to US foreign policy? Can anyone name a single television network in the United States that is unequivocally opposed to US foreign policy? Is there a single daily newspaper or TV network in the entire United States that has earned the label "opposition media"?"

William Blum, 2007

"By far the most valuable associations, according to CIA officials have been with the New York Times, CBS and Time Inc... Over the years, the [CBS] network provided cover for CIA employees, including at least one well-known foreign correspondent and several stringers... A high-level CIA official says that the New York Times provided cover for about ten CIA operatives between 1950 and 1966.
... [Joseph] Alsop is one of more than 400 American journalists who in the past twenty-five years have secretly carried out assignments for the Central Intelligence Agency, according to documents on file at CIA headquarters. Journalists provided a full range of clandestine services--from simple intelligence-gathering to serving as go-betweens with spies in Communist countries."

journalist Carl Bernstein, Rolling Stone, 1977

"I am very proud of what we are doing. We are the greatest nation in the world."

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright - about sanctions on Iraq

"What would it take for the NYT editors to become deeply embarrassed by their own governments' human rights record? The number of countries the Obama administration has bombed in gross violation of international law now approaches double digits. This is clearly not an embarrassment to the NYTimes. They do not call for a "global response" to terminate the never ending rush to war of the USA and its allies, who've rarely taken a break from bombing Iraq over the last twenty four years (and probably caused 1-2 million Iraqi deaths since 1990). Rational people will call the big Imperial States, not the "Islamic State", a threat that requires a "global response". Point to an editorial board of a corporate newspaper willing to say that and you'll be pointing to an ex-editorial board."

Joe Emersberger, 2014

"Western corporations own the media, and their advertising makes the industry profitable. In this sense, the media cannot fulfil the function of watchdog of power, because in fact it is power. It is the power of the globalised elite to control and limit the ideological and imaginative horizons of the media's readers and viewers. It does so to ensure that imperial interests, which are synonymous with those of the corporations, are not threatened."

Jonathan Cook, 2011

"Just as it is sometimes necessary temporarily to resort to evil actions to achieve worthy objectives, so a period of dictatorship is sometimes the only hope for freedom.
... Paradoxically, preserving liberty may require the rule of a single leader - a dictator - willing to use those dreaded 'extraordinary measures', which few know how, or are willing, to employ."

neocon Michael Ledeen

"In Venezuela the corporate media are still owned by the elites. The five major TV networks, and nine of ten of the major newspapers maintain a continuing media effort to undermine Chavez and the socialist revolution. But despite the corporate media and $20 million annual support to the anti-Chavez opposition institutions from USAID and National Endowment for Democracy, two-thirds of the people in Venezuela continue to support President Hugo Chavez and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"Cold War propaganda cast a toxic spell on the minds of three generations, including some of the most intelligent people, and its influence continues today. Relentless Cold War rhetoric accomplished a near total indoctrination of our entire US culture. Religious institutions, academic and educational institutions from kindergarten through graduate school, professional associations, political associations from local to national, the scientific community, economic system, entertainment industry from radio and TV to Hollywood and sports, fraternal organizations, boy scouts, etc.-all systematically were complicit in and cooperated to preserve unquestioning belief in the unique nobility of the US American system while instilling rabid, paranoid fear of "enemies"-in our midst as well as "out there"-in order to rationalize otherwise pathologically inexplicable behavior around the world as well as at home."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

THE RULING ELITE, NEOLIBERAL ECONOMICS AND CLASS WAR

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA TELL US THAT AMERICA IS A CLASSLESS SOCIETY.

THEY ASSERT THAT THE PRESENT SYSTEM OF NEOLIBERAL ECONOMICS IS THE BEST THAT CAPITALISM HAS TO OFFER, THAT "TRICKLE-DOWN" WORKS, AND THAT THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO THE "FREE MARKET" CAPITALIST ECONOMY.

THE REALITY:

THE UNITED STATES IS A PLUTOCRACY THAT FAVORS THE WEALTHY OVER EVERYONE ELSE.

THE PRESENT ECONOMIC SYSTEM OF 'FREE MARKET" CAPITALISM MAKES THE RICH RICHER AND THE POOR POORER - IN AMERICA AND AROUND THE WORLD.

THE U.S-LED NEOLIBERAL ECONOMIC SYSTEM USES SANCTIONS, BOYCOTTS, AUSTERITY, STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT, CURRENCY MANIPULATION, MANIPULATED "FREE MARKETS" AND THE ABSENCE OF CAPITAL CONTROLS (FREE MOVEMENT OF MONEY AMONG COUNTRIES), TO EXPLOIT AND PLUNDER THE RESOURCES OF POOR WEAK COUNTRIES, PREY UPON THE POOR, AND IMMISERATE LARGE SWATHS OF THE GLOBE.

IT IS NEO-COLONIALISM AND CLASS WAR ON A GLOBAL SCALE.

"Many people don't understand our country's problem of concentration of income and wealth because they don't see it. People just don't understand how much wealth there is at the top now. The wealth at the top is so extreme that it is beyond most people's ability to comprehend."

Dave Johnson, 2011

"There is a shadowy group of Plutocrats running multinational corporations, controlling the media narrative, manipulating the money supply, influencing governments, generating chaos, and provoking wars in order to further their agendas.
These people are very real and extremely dangerous. They operate in the shadows, safely out of the light of public scrutiny. They manage by proxy, using cut-outs to do their bidding, never allowing themselves to get their hands dirty?
Politicians are used and discarded, giving the illusion that they are the ones in control. The controllers' identities are hidden through a corporate shell game of holding companies and secret banking tax havens, in places like the Cayman Islands and Luxemburg.
A thirst for publicity and a lust for the spotlight are liabilities if you want to excel in this endeavor. Better to rule from the shadows where your identity and intentions are unknown.
... The people running the show are mostly driven, professional, sociopaths with no discernible traces of compassion.
... Some of our best-known leaders and public figures are actually psychopaths, and what makes a psychopath most effective is their overall lack of empathy. They simply do not have the ability to imagine or feel someone else's pain, and this frees them up to cross boundaries that the rest of us would never dream of crossing. They can operate without limits, giving them an advantage over everyone else. They are professional liars and damn proud of it.
... You do not make it to the top of the food chain by being nice, honest and fair; you get there by force, deception, and influence. You get there through violence, if necessary. You get there through blackmail and extortion. It takes planning and funding, patience and practice, and a mastery of how to use fear to control other people. Those running the world are playing a much different game than the rest of us, and the way they see it, there are no rules. Or at least the rules do not apply to them.
... Their plan is to change society in every country in a way that provides them a reason to impose a world government. The creation of a world central bank and an electronic world currency, in conjunction with the elimination of cash, would allow them complete control to dictate financial policy around the globe. Their policies would be enforced by their world army, and a micro-chipped population would live in fear of having their electronic currency deleted if they ever crossed the world government."

Charlie Robinson, in his book "The Octopus of Global Control", 2017

"Those who own the country ought to govern it."

John Jay, US Supreme Court Justice, 1789 to 1795

"A 2005 report from Citigroup coined the term "plutonomy," to describe countries "where economic growth is powered by and largely consumed by the wealthy few," and specifically identified the U.K., Canada, Australia, and the United States as four plutonomies."

Andrew Gavin Marshall

"In the late '60s and early '70s, it was still possible to associate the word "public" with the common good - public square, public school, public health and so on. And "private" tended to connote selfish greed. Now, the meanings have been reversed. Public is now a synonym for slum, incompetence, corruption and so forth, and private is the source of all things bright and beautiful - private school, private stream, private plane and so on. And so the impulse has been toward plutocracy, and it's celebrated in all of our news media."

Lewis Lapham, 2005

"Following a major economic Depression beginning in 1873 ... powerful American industrial and banking families grouped around J.P. Morgan and John D. Rockefeller concentrated the wealth and control of American industry into their own hands.
... The Morgan and Rockefeller interests deployed fraud, deceit, violence, and bribery - and they deliberately manipulated financial panics. Each financial panic, brought about through their calculated control of financial markets and banking credit, allowed them and their closest allies to consolidate ever more power into fewer and fewer hands. It was this concentration of financial power within an elite few wealthy families that created an American plutocracy or, more accurately, an American oligarchy."

F. William Engdahl in his book "Gods of Money"

"The Mainstream News Media [MSM] in the United States is demonstrating they are no better than China, Iran, or Venezuela when it comes down to misleading the public and acting as a government propaganda tool. Vital polls and assessments of the true impact of the Ruling Class War on America is non-existent, and citizens who desire to find real news and an unbiased assessment of the economy have no alternative other than relying on the Internet to glean the real impact of the "recession" on the American economy."

William Cormier, 2010

"Why are millions of people in Britain persuaded that a collective punishment called "austerity" is necessary?
Following the economic crash in 2008, a rotten system was exposed. For a split second the banks were lined up as crooks with obligations to the public they had betrayed.
But within a few months - apart from a few stones lobbed over excessive corporate "bonuses" - the message changed. The mugshots of guilty bankers vanished from the tabloids and something called "austerity" became the burden of millions of ordinary people. Was there ever a sleight of hand as brazen?
Today, many of the premises of civilised life in Britain are being dismantled in order to pay back a fraudulent debt - the debt of crooks. The "austerity" cuts are said to be £83 billion. That's almost exactly the amount of tax avoided by the same banks and by corporations like Amazon and Murdoch's News UK. Moreover, the crooked banks are given an annual subsidy of £100bn in free insurance and guarantees - a figure that would fund the entire National Health Service."

John Pilger, 2014

"In the so-called 'third world', particularly in sub-Sahara Africa, the ravages of the Neoliberal Project have been extended by the actions of the IMF and by other means. Governments are encouraged, or forced, to take on debts that they have no ability to repay. When the governments then turn to the IMF for relief, additional loans are granted, but they are encumbered by draconian conditions. Governments are forced to cut social services, and are required to sell off national assets, such as water rights, at bargain basement prices to corporations. It becomes illegal, to give an example of what draconian means, for people to capture rainwater, as that is deemed to be stealing from the corporations that have bought the nation's water rights. By such means poverty has been systematically created wherever the IMF has managed to dig in its claws."

www.theglobalelite.org, 2013

"The ultra-wealthy own virtually every major bank and every major corporation on the planet. They use a vast network of secret societies, think tanks and charitable organizations to advance their agendas and to keep their members in line. They control how we view the world through their ownership of the media and their dominance over our education system. They fund the campaigns of most of our politicians and they exert a tremendous amount of influence over international organizations such as the United Nations, the IMF, the World Bank and the WTO. When you step back and take a look at the big picture, there is little doubt about who runs the world.
The ultra-wealthy don't run down and put their money in the local bank like you and I do. Instead, they tend to stash their assets in places where they won't be taxed such as the Cayman Islands... The global elite have up to 32 trillion dollars stashed in offshore banks around the globe.
U.S. GDP for 2011 was about 15 trillion dollars, and the U.S. national debt is sitting at about 16 trillion dollars, so you could add them both together and you still wouldn't hit 32 trillion dollars.
And of course that does not even count the money that is stashed in other locations, and it does not count all of the wealth that the global elite have in hard assets such as real estate, precious metals, art, yachts, etc."

Michael Snyder, 2013

"The nation's top 1% of households own more than half the nation's stocks [and] they also control more than $16 trillion in wealth - more than the bottom 90%."

from a Federal Reserve report in 2005

"The objective of U.S. world domination is not just power for its own sake but power to insure plutocratic control of the planet, power to privatize and deregulate the economies of every nation in the world, to hoist upon the backs of peoples everywhere - including the people of North America - the blessings of an untrammeled 'free market' corporate capitalism. The struggle is between those who belleve that the land, labor, capital, technology, and markets of the world should be dedicated to maximizing capital accumulation for the few, and those who believe that these things should be used for the communal benefit and socio-economic development of the many."

Michael Parenti

"Plutocracy is abhorrent to a republic; it is more despotic than monarchy, more heartless than aristocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy. It preys upon the nation in time of peace and conspires against it in the hour of its calamity."

William Jennings Bryan in a 1906 speech

"The top 1 percent have more wealth than the poorest half of the world's adults.
... The richest 10 percent of the world enjoyed a boost from the 2008 financial crisis and now own a whopping 89 percent of all assets.
... The wealthiest 10 percent of adults are mostly in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific.
... The bottom 20 percent of adults, currently sitting around 1 billion people, own no more than US$248, while the poorest half of the world, about 2.4 billion adults, own less than US$2,222.
... The number of millionaires in the world will hit a record high of 45.1 million in the next five years, while the number of billionaires will increase by 945 for a total of 3,000 around the world. The middle class will be the fastest-growing income group."

Global Wealth Report 2016 from the Credit Suisse Research Institute, www.telesurtv.net

"The inert masses are mentally and spiritually ill equipped to deal with reality; so they block it out of their minds - aided, of course, by the corporate media and the propaganda apparatus of the government, itself. This is why fantasy is freely substituted for reality; plutocracy is mistaken for democracy, and the majority of the people do not know the difference."

Charles Sullivan, 2008

"US society today is neither a tyranny nor a democracy; it is organized from top to bottom according to the principle of oligarchy or plutocracy."

Webster Griffin Tarpley in his book "9/11 Synthetic Terror - made in the USA"

"We're not a democracy. It's a terrible misunderstanding and a slander to the idea of democracy to call us that. In reality, we're a plutocracy, a government by the wealthy."

former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark

"By the end of the 1890's [J.P.] Morgan and [John D.] Rockefeller had become the giants of an increasingly powerful Money Trust controlling American industry and government policy. There was little room for the actual practice of democracy in their world. Power was the commodity of their trade. It was the creation of an American aristocracy of blood and money, every bit as elite and exclusive as the titled nobility of Britain, Germany or France - despite the Constitutional ban on titled nobility in America. It was an oligarchy, a plutocracy in every sense of the word - rule by the wealthiest in their self-interest.
Some 60 families - names like Rockefeller, Morgan, Dodge, Mellon, Pratt, Harkness, Whitney, Duke, Harriman, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, DuPont, Guggenheim, Astor, Lehman, Warburg, Taft, Huntington, Baruch and Rosenwald formed a close network of plutocratic wealth that manipulated, bribed, and bullied its way to control the destiny of the United States. At the dawn of the 20th Century, some sixty ultra-rich families, through dynastic intermarriage and corporate, interconnected shareholdings, had gained control of American industry and banking institutions."

F. William Engdahl in his book "Gods of Money"

HUMAN RIGHTS, WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF THE WORLD'S MOST VULNERABLE, AND SUPPORT U.S. EFFORTS TO ENSURE THEIR SAFETY, SECURITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS.

THE REALITY:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE INDIFFERENT TO THE SUFFERING OF MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA CONDONE THE UNITED STATES USE OF SANCTIONS, MILITARY AGGRESSION, ASSASSINATION AND THE MASS MURDER IN ORDER TO ENSURE AMERICA'S GLOBAL HEGEMONY.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA SUPPORT THE U.S. MILITARY'S USE OF DRONES, LANDMINES. CLUSTER BOMBS, AGENT ORANGE, NAPALM, WHITE PHOSPHORUS, DEPLETED URANIUM, TARGETED ASSASSINATIONS, AND WHOLESALE MURDER OF INNOCENT CIVILIANS TO ADVANCE THE U.S.-LED GLOBAL OLIGARCHY'S NEW WORLD ORDER.

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright - about US sanctions killing more than 500,000 Iraqi children

"As far back as the 1850s, Frederick Douglass, looking at the unquestionably vibrant press in the United States, asked how it could coexist with one of the most cruel systems of slavery the world had ever known. Why was a people so moral about some issues able to live face-to-face with such evil? And why did segregation last for another century after slavery? The issue was not the absence of a free press or of the free flow of ideas or of criticism. How and why blatant injustices are accepted and lived with as part of the commonweal is, as the American abolitionist John Brown warned, the key question of human rights."

James Peck in his book "Ideal Illusions"

"The American people face a serious moral dilemma. Murder and war crimes have been conducted in their name. Yet most Americans have no idea of the magnitude of deaths and tend to believe that they number in the thousands and are primarily Iraqis killing Iraqis. Corporate mainstream media are in large part to blame."

"There is a current of human rights that judges a society by how well it treats the poor and the weak. It challenges power by asking why, in large areas of the world where civil liberties and the rule of law do hold sway, so little is done to meet the most basic economic, medical, and educational needs of the population.

James Peck in his book "Ideal Illusions"

"The West has ravaged the world for five hundred years, under the flag of master-slave theory which in our finest hour of hypocrisy was called 'the white man's burden' What sets the West apart is its persistence to stop at nothing."

Lewis Mumford, The Myth of the Machine

"In El Salvador, the Reagan administration backed an ultra-right faction of the military led by intelligence officer Roberto d'Aubuisson who was trained at the CIA-run International Police Academy in Washington. D'Aubuisson masterminded the assassination of Monsignor Romero in March 1980 and commanded the death squads that liquidated civilians in favor of peaceful change.
In Guatemala, the ultra-right celebrated Reagan's elections and stepped up its campaign of kidnapping opponents in the capital and massacring peasants in the countryside.
... In 1993, the UN Truth Commission found that 85 percent of the deaths of civilian non-combatants in El Salvador were attributable to government forces. Only 5 percent could be attributed to the left.
In other words, the security forces armed and trained by the United States were 17 times more likely to be responsible for political murders than the anti-U.S. forces."

Jefferson Morley, 2019

"The American Constitution itself does not include economic, social, and cultural rights. It includes no mandate to have the basic needs of people satisfied."

James Peck in his book "Ideal Illusions"

"It is estimated that Africa lost fifty to sixty million human beings to death and slavery during the nearly four hundred years of the transatlantic slave trade. It has been calculated that only ten to fifteen million survived the kidnapping process and the subsequent long, forced march of hundreds of miles to the African coast, during which the captives were chained to one another. If that wasn't savage enough, they were forced to endure the transport of six to ten weeks on one of 54,000 separate slave voyages, five thousand miles across the ocean. Called floating coffins, each ship held anywhere from 250 to 600 Africans. The trans-Atlantic slave trade is the largest known forced intercontinental movement of human beings in history."

"Washington set out after the Vietnam War to craft human rights into a new language of power designed to promote American foreign policy... "As UN Ambassador and the Secretary of State in the Bill Clinton regime, Madeleine Albright was a fanatical advocate of the genocidal sanctions blockade that killed more than a million women, children and men in Iraq, and of the 1999 U.S./NATO bombing war against Yugoslavia."

"The result of neo-colonialism is that foreign capital is used for the exploitation rather than for the development of the less developed parts of the world. Investment, under neo-colonialism, increases, rather than decreases, the gap between the rich and the poor countries of the world. The struggle against neo-colonialism is not aimed at excluding the capital of the developed world from operating in less developed countries. It is aimed at preventing the financial power of the developed countries being used in such a way as to impoverish the less developed."

Kwame Nkrumah, President of Ghana

"Chinese critics asked how the growing inequalities between rich and poor in the United States could be compatible with a human rights spirit. Why were 36.5 million Americans living in poverty in 2006? Why is the wealth of the richest growing exponentially, widening the already huge earnings gap between the rich and the less well off? Why did payments to corporate CEOs that were some 475 times higher than those to ordinary workers go unchallenged by human rights advocates? Was the control of patents on medicines for AIDS and other diseases that would help enormously in poorer countries an intellectual property right - or a human rights violation?"

James Peck in his book "Ideal Illusions"

"Two million civilians killed/ murdered in North Viet Nam; 2 million civilians killed/ murdered in South Viet Nam (out of 17 million population in the South, or 12 percent); 1.1 million North Vietnamese fighters killed, plus 223,748 South Vietnamese fighters killed. Total Vietnamese killed: over 5.32 million. Total Southeast Asians killed: 5.32 million Vietnamese, plus 600,000 Cambodians, plus 350,000 Laotians equals 6.27 million."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"Thousands of dossiers have been produced describing in meticulous detail the death squads and torture and extrajudicial executions carried out by brutal regimes and pathological dictators around the world. When people with black or yellow or brown skin, with Islamic or Communist or nationalist credentials murder their prisoners or bomb their villagers, they are condemned - often quite selectively, to be sure - by the "civilized" world. And they should be condemned. But the American leaders who ordered the free fire zones in Vietnam and the Phoenix program, or directed the Contras against the Sandinistas, or were complicit in Saddam Hussein's gas warfare against the Kurds, or set up and operated Guantánamo are not taken to court. They face no trials. On any human rights website you will find a growing number of prominent leaders indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Few are American or Western European or Israeli."

James Peck in his book "Ideal Illusions"

"Had journalists done their job in 2003, had they questioned and investigated the propaganda about Iraq's WMD, instead of amplifying it, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children might be alive today; and millions might not have fled their homes; the sectarian war between Sunni and Shia might not have ignited, and the infamous Islamic State might not now exist.
Most of the public in western countries have little idea of the sheer scale of the crime committed by our governments in Iraq. Even fewer are aware that, in the 12 years before the invasion, the US and British governments set in motion a holocaust by denying the civilian population of Iraq a means to live."

John Pilger, 2014

"Behind the veil of legitimacy and humanitarian concerns can be found the same powerful people and organizations such as the Open Society Institute of George Soros, the Ford Foundation, the United States Institute of Peace, the National Endowment for Democracy and many more, financing and using a maze of well known NGO's such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the International Crisis Group, etc., as well as more obscure entities.
With the help of these various groups it is possible not only to shape but to create the news, the agenda and public opinion to further aims which are, in short, the control of the world, its natural resources and the furtherance of the uniform ideal of a perfect world polity made in America."

James Peck in his book "Ideal Illusions"

WAR AND AGGRESSION

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE AGAINST WAR AND CRITICIZE U.S. AGGRESSION.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA CHAMPION U.S. EFFORTS TO PREVENT CONFLICT AND PROMOTE PEACE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

THE REALITY:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA SUPPORT U.S. AGGRESSION AND ADVOCATE FOR WAR.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA PRAISE THE WARMONGERS AND MARGINALIZE THE PEACEMAKERS.

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAVE NEVER SEEN A U.S. AGGRESSON THEY DID NOT CHEARLEAD NOR A U.S.-LED WAR THEY DID NOT SUPPORT.

"What is the one thing that brings Republicans and Democrats together? War. They love it, the more, the better. Forever war, perpetual war."

Sen Rand Paul, 2019

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"It is a big mistake for us to grant any validity to international law even when it may seem in our short-term interest to do so because over the long term, the goal of those who think that international law really means anything are those who want to constrain the United States."

Natonal Security Advisor John Bolton

"Selling fear to the American people has become a mainstay of the press and of both political parties in this country. Taking a "tough on crime" stance, particularly in a climate of perpetual fear created by the "war on drugs" and the "war on terrorism," is always a politically safe posture... By focusing on crime, attention is effectively directed away from more divisive issues on which a politician might have to take a stand that would cost them votes. Meanwhile, a fearful populace continues to surrender their civil rights and constitutional protections at an alarming rate, so that their government may protect them from the rampant criminality of the masses."

David McGowan in his book "Derailing Democracy"

"The reason we don't see the war on civilians in Afghanistan, the war that has caused the most extraordinary devastation, human and cultural and structural devastation in both Iraq and Afghanistan, is because of what is almost laughingly called the mainstream media... Mainstream media reporters now have become so embedded with the establishment, embedded with authority. They're not journalists."

John Pilger, 2010

"The mainstream media are tasked by the powers-that-be with marketing war in order to advance US foreign-policy objectives. Without the moral justification for war, it becomes more difficult to convince Americans and Europeans to send their sons to die thousands of miles away from home. It is straightforward Brainwashing 101: repeat a lie long enough, and people will start to believe it."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"The US mainstream media repeats lies as if they were facts. The US media is making itself an accomplice to wars based on fabrications."

Paul Craig Roberts, 2009

"Since trade ignores national boundaries and the manufacturer insists on having the world as a market, the flag of his nation must follow him, and the doors of the nations which are closed against him must be battered down. Concessions obtained by financiers must be safeguarded by ministers of state, even if the sovereignty of unwilling nations be outraged in the process. Colonies must be obtained or planted, in order that no useful corner of the world may be overlooked or left unused."

Woodrow Wilson, president of Princeton University, 1907

"Large media companies are owned by those who support the militarist agenda or even directly profit from war and terror.
... Owners of American media companies have long actively played a part in drumming up support for war.
... The large news outlets studiously avoided any real criticism of the government's claims in the run up to the Iraq war.
... The large American media companies acted as lapdogs and stenographers for the government's war agenda."

WashingtonsBlog, 2011

"The press corps was under enormous pressure from corporate executives to make sure the Iraq War (2003) was a war that was presented in a way that was consistent with the patriotic fervor in the nation. The higher the president's ratings, the more pressure I had from news executives to put on positive stories about the president."

Jessica Yellin an MSNBC correspondent about 2003 Iraq war

"There was such a significant march to war (Iraq 2003), and people who questioned it very early on, and really as the war progressed, were considered unpatriotic.
... There was a sense, a pressure from the corporations who own where we work, and from government itself, to really squash any kind of dissent."

former Today Show host Katie Couric

"If generals (and militarized civilians) don't want a war to end, that suffices as a rationale for its continuation."

Andrew Bacevich . 2019

"Mainstream reporters are always pro-war, acting as cheerleaders for the military-industrial complex and propagandists for the government."

CIA operative to Washington Post editor Philip Graham

"In 2011, NATO launched an illegal, savage attack against Libya, the country with the Highest Human Development Index in Africa.
... At the time, Libyans were fed, they had homes (free), education (free), healthcare (free), a good water supply and Libya was a filter and staging post for migrants moving towards Europe."

Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey, 2019

"When the corporate elites trample on other peoples and states to advance their own selfish interests, our dominant media cannot allow its reporting to frame the events honestly. For the western media, our leaders make mistakes, they are naïve or even stupid, but they are never bad or evil. Our media do not call for Bush or Blair to be tried at the Hague as war criminals."

Jonathan Cook, 2011

"Julian Assange's major fault lies in having revealed the true face of US imperialism, an imperialism that has for decades brought wars, death and destruction around the world for its own political and economic gain, using illegitimate justifications that are backed up by self-proclaimed experts and amplified and repeated endlessly by the mainstream media."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"Operation Allied Force was NATO's 78-day air war against Yugoslavia in 1999. It was a war waged as much against Serbian civilians as much as it was against Slobodan Milosevic's forces, and it was a campaign of breathtaking hypocrisy and selective outrage. More than anything, it was a war that by President Bill Clinton's own admission was fought for the sake of NATO's credibility."

Brett Wilkins, 2019

"With the help of the media, the military determine the public perception and use it for their plans. They manage to stir expectations and spread scenarios and deceptions.

"Special operations forces deployed across the globe, in almost every country, can help initiate, maintain and perpetuate conflict as long as the United States stays in a position of relatively unrivaled power in the world. The U.S. military industrial complex does not desire large winnable wars, but "low-intensity" conflicts that last as long as possible. That is how the system retains power, maintains profits, and remains relevant."

thesaker.is - Brian Kalman, Daniel Deiss, Edwin Watson, 2019

"The suppression of the truth about Ukraine is one of the most complete news blackouts. The biggest Western military build-up in the Caucasus and eastern Europe since world war two is blacked out. Washington's secret aid to Kiev and its neo-Nazi brigades responsible for war crimes against the population of eastern Ukraine is blacked out. Evidence that contradicts propaganda that Russia was responsible for the shooting down of a Malaysian airliner is blacked out. And, New York Times and Washington Post are the censors."

John Pilger, 2014

"Mainstream reporters are always pro-war, acting as cheerleaders for the military-industrial complex and propagandists for the government."

Paul Craig Roberts, 2013

"The basic theme was to make it look like enemy aggression in Angola. So any kind of story that you could write and get into the media anywhere in the world, that pushed that line, we did. One third of my staff in this task force were propagandists, whose professional career job was to make up stories and find ways of getting them into the press. The editors in most Western newspapers are not too skeptical of messages that conform to general views and prejudices. So we came up with another story, and it was kept going for weeks. But it was all fiction."

former CIA officer and whistleblower John Stockwell said of his work in the Angolan war

"Prior to media's "humanitarian" propaganda campaigns, neither Somalia nor Kosovo and certainly not Sudan figured prominently among the typical American's concerns. In fact, over 85% of American public could not find Sudan on the world map. The same could be said for Somalia and certainly Kosovo, not to mention Iraq prior to the Desert Storm invasion in 1991. 87% of Americans didn't know where Iraq was on the map and had no idea who Saddam Hussein was until CNN's diligent, relentless efforts to indoctrinate the American public made those military campaigns possible.
Nevertheless, what's absolutely mind-boggling is that the public never questioned any of it [U.S. invasion of Iraq in 1991 and again in 2003]. By the end of 2010, more than one and a half million innocent Iraqis are dead, along with Saddam Hussein, 5,000+ American troops and unknown tens of thousands maimed for life who are "liberating" the country on behalf of British Petroleum, Royal Dutch Shell, Halliburton, Blackwater, Chase Manhattan Bank, Bank of America, CitiGroup and an unending plethora of multinational corporations, all vying for a piece of an Iraqi sweepstakes and wealth."

Daniel Estulin, 2015

"The war on terrorism is different than the Gulf War was, in the sense that it may never end."

Vice-President Dick Cheney

"US Special Forces operatives, comprised of 70,000 soldiers, have set foot in 150 countries from 2011-2014 (three fourths of the planet's 196 nations), tracking and killing suspected "terrorists." In the process, they torture, destroy homes and families, and kill and wound many innocent. The Special Forces also provide names and cell phone numbers of those they have supposedly identified as targets for guiding drone strikes. "

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"Pentagon propaganda penetration has occured on mainstream corporate news in the guise of retired Generals as "experts" or pundits who turned out to be nothing more than paid shills for government war policy."

Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff, Project Censored, 2009

"The use of social media to control a targeted nation's information space, and use it as a means of carrying out sociopolitical subversion and even regime change reached its pinnacle in 2011 during the US-engineered "Arab Spring."
Portrayed at first as spontaneous demonstrations organized organically over Facebook and other social media platforms, it is now revealed that the US government had trained activists years ahead of the protests, with Google and Facebook participating directly in making preparations.
The end result was the virtual weaponization of social media, serving as cover for what was a long-planned, regional series of coups including heavily armed militants who eventually overthrew the governments of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen, with Syria now locked in 6 years of war."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2017

"Just as it is sometimes necessary temporarily to resort to evil actions to achieve worthy objectives, so a period of dictatorship is sometimes the only hope for freedom.
... Paradoxically, preserving liberty may require the rule of a single leader - a dictator - willing to use those dreaded 'extraordinary measures', which few know how, or are willing, to employ."

neocon Michael Ledeen

"The most effective propaganda is found not in the Sun or on Fox News - but beneath a liberal halo. When the New York Times published claims that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, its fake evidence was believed, because it wasn't Fox News; it was the New York Times.
The same is true of the Washington Post and the Guardian, both of which have played a critical role in conditioning their readers to accept a new and dangerous cold war. All three liberal newspapers have misrepresented events in Ukraine as a malign act by Russia - when, in fact, the fascist led coup in Ukraine was the work of the United States, aided by Germany and NATO.
This inversion of reality is so pervasive that Washington's military encirclement and intimidation of Russia is not contentious. It's not even news, but suppressed behind a smear and scare campaign of the kind I grew up with during the first cold war."

John Pilger, 2014

"If the war lies were not all over the media, people would not learn them in the first place. If the corrections were heard over and over again, they would get through. If our communications system allowed the presentation of a variety of voices and viewpoints and feared promoting falsehoods more than it feared being insufficiently militaristic, we wouldn't need to investigate the widespread phenomenon of engaged citizens certain of their beliefs but completely deluded."

David Swanson in his book "War Is A Lie"

"The national broadcast media have become a propaganda arm of the Pentagon."

John Stauber, 2009

ENEMIES

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE UNITED STATES SEEKS PEACE AND COOPERATION WITH ALL COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD.

THE ENORMOUS U.S. MILITARY BUDGET IS NEEDED TO DEFEND AMERICA AGAINST ITS ENEMIES.

THE U.S. DOES NOT PROVOKE CONFLICT, BUT MERELY REACTS TO THE AGGRESSION OF OTHERS.

THE REALITY:

THE UNITED STATES IS AN AGGRESSIVE IMPERIAL POWER AND A NATIONAL-SECURITY STATE.

THE CORPORATE-BANKING ESTABLISHMENT DEMANDS NEW MARKETS AND EVER-INCREASING PROFITS.

AMERICA'S MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL-SURVEILLANCE COMPLEX WANTS CONTROL OVER GLOBAL ENERGY SOURCES AND STRATEGIC HEGEMONY, AND IT NEEDS ENEMIES TO JUSTIFY THE ENORMOUS AND EVER-GROWING MILITARY BUDGET.

THE LIST OF AMERICA'S ENEMIES HAS INCLUDED: RUSSIA/USSR, GERMANY, JAPAN, GREECE, ALBANIA, BULGARIA, CHINA, NORTH KOREA, VIETNAM, CAMBODIA, LAOS, INDONESIA, EAST TIMOR, CUBA, IRAN, IRAQ, SYRIA, AFGHANISTAN, EGYPT, LIBYA, YEMEN, SOMALIA, SUDAN, YUGOSLAVIA, HAITI, NICARAGUA, CHILE, VENEZUELA, GUATEMALA, HONDORUS, BOLIVIA, BRAZIL, ECUADOR, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, PANAMA, GRENADA, COSTA RICA, GHANA, CONGO, ANGOLA, CHAD, COMMUNISM, SOCIALISM, FASCISM, TERRORISM, ET AL.

WHEN REAL ENEMIES ARE NOT AVAILABLE, THE U.S. DEEP STATE CREATES THEM WITH THE LOYAL SUPPORT OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

It says not that the United States must be more powerful, or most powerful, but that it must be absolutely powerful."

Vice-President Dick Cheney - lecture at West Point, June 2002

"Once an enemy is demonized the media display a form of hysteria that helps mobilize the public in support of whatever forms of violence the government wishes to carry out. They become a virtual propaganda arm of the government, joining with it in the common fight against "another Hitler." Under these conditions remarkable structures of disinformation can be built, institutionalized, and remain parts of historic memory even in the face of ex post confutations, which are kept out of sight."

Edward s Herman, 2001

"Where once the U.S. fought battles against insurgent liberation movements, now it fights to bring down defiant governments or leaders. That is a feature of neo-imperialism. Defiance of the West has been the common denominator for those whom the West seeks to destroy. As the world knows by now, "democracy" and "human rights" have nothing to do with U.S. neo-imperial strategy. The two cross paths only by accident."

John V. Walsh, 2014

"We need a common enemy to unite us."

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, March 2000

"Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. Anything else would be an unacceptable shock to the American economy."

George Kennan, U.S. State Department Cold War strategist during Truman Administration, 1940s

"In the years following the election of Hugo Chavez, millions of people were brought out of poverty, millions of people got medical care who hadn't had it before, schools and hospitals and farmer collectives opened up all over the country, and Venezuela became a beacon for socialism and democracy for many people around the world, including within the United States. Venezuela's Bank of the South liberated many countries from the intentionally destructive strings attached to IMF loans. Millions of people in many other countries benefited from the generosity of the Bolivarian Revolution's internationalist programs, including people struggling to pay their heating bills in cities like Boston and Chicago.
... Chile when a popular socialist (Salvador Allende) was elected in a landslide and started lifting millions of his country's people out of poverty through his extremely popular socialist policies, here's what happened: the US government, through the CIA and other agencies, organized a massive campaign to destabilize Chilean society and destroy the Chilean economy, while cultivating a CIA-trained general within the Chilean military to seize power in a violent coup, which resulted in a military dictatorship that lasted decades and led to untold thousands being tortured and killed by sadistic, US-trained Chilean soldiers and government agents."

David Rovics , 2019

"As neocon propagandists pursue their goal of riling up the American public against some new foreign threat, that effort requires highlighting certain facts (and even fictions). But the propagandists equally must make sure that many inconvenient truths are conveniently forgotten. Otherwise the alleged threat might not seem all that unusual or threatening."

Robert Parry, 2010

"Russia and China, recently have been driven into one another's arms by the endless crusades of the West to undermine them. Together they constitute a great power center outside the control of the U.S. Empire. Bent on global domination, the U.S. cannot tolerate such a defiant and alternative center of power. The reason is that such a center provides an alternative for others who would gain their independence from the West."

John V. Walsh, 2014

"Make the American people realize they are surrounded in the world by violent extremists."

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, in an internal memo, 2007

"The ruling elites know who their enemies are, and their enemies are the people, the people at home and the people abroad. Their enemies are anybody who wants more social justice, anybody who wants to use the surplus value of society for social needs rather than for individual class greed, that's their enemy. "

Michael Parenti

"The corporations that profit from permanent war need us to be afraid. Fear stops us from objecting to government spending on a bloated military. Fear means we will not ask unpleasant questions of those in power. Fear permits the government to operate in secret. Fear means we are willing to give up our rights and liberties for promises of security. The imposition of fear ensures that the corporations that wrecked the country cannot be challenged. Fear keeps us penned in like livestock. "

Chris Hedges

"Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear - kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor - with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it by furnishing the exorbitant funds demanded. Yet, in retrospect, these disasters seem never to have happened, seem never to have been quite real."

General Douglas MacArthur, 1957 - as quoted in American Caesar, by William Manchester, 1978

John V. Walsh, 2014

"The Pentagon's penchant for military toys makes an ambitious, aggressive foreign policy essential. Without enemies and conflicts, real or potential, there is no reason to spend money. "

Gabriel Kolko, 2007

"Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival... This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power... First the US must show the leadership necessary to establish and protect a new order that holds the promise of convincing potential competitors that they need not aspire to a greater role or pursue a more aggressive posture to protect their legitimate interests."

neocon Paul Wolfowitz in the "Defense Planning Guidance"

"The American press has gone to extraordinary lengths to demonize Venezuelan President Hugo] Chávez, to portray him as a dictatorial monster, or worse, a crazy man.
Of course, if Chávez had given American-based businesses control over his country's oil supply instead of nationalizing it to benefit his countrymen, no doubt the press for Chávez would have been glowing. Historically, the American government and media have both been kind to dictators who allowed the United States to get cheap deals on resources in their country at the expense of the natives there."

Lisa Pease, 2010

"Our propaganda system works very skillfully to mold public opinion toward supporting, and securing obedience to, demands of the power system. Using carefully crafted visual images, sophisticated rhetoric, and sometimes force, propaganda works astoundingly well in shaping ideology. It is amazingly effective in convincing a nation's youth to follow superiors' orders to kill complete strangers in foreign lands while being at high risk of being killed and maimed themselves."

S. Brian Willson, 2018

"Iran is the third of the big three Paramount Enemies of the U.S. and the West. Interestingly, Iran followed the same course as China and Russia. After the overthrow of the duly elected social democrat and nationalist Mossadegh by the CIA and the imposition of a brutal dictator, the Shah, a revolution, led by clerics in this case, and a peaceful one at that, overthrew the Shah and cut ties with the West. The clerical establishment played the same role in Iran that the Communist Parties of China and Russia played there. They led a revolution for independence and development and they have kept Iran largely outside the orbit of the West for 35 years. They will engage the West now largely on their own terms, just as China and Russia have done."

John V. Walsh, 2014

ISRAEL AND ZIONISM

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA CONTEND THAT ISRAEL IS AN INCLUSIVE DEMOCRACY, A STABLIIZING INFLUENCE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AND A FORCE FOR GOOD IN THE WORLD.

THE REALITY:

ISRAEL IS AN APARTHEID STATE THAT OPPRESSES, TERRORIZES AND KILLS PALESTINIANS.

ISRAEL HAS FOR 50 YEARS ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN LANDS IN THE WEST BANK AND GAZA.

ISRAEL ENDORSES COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT AGAINST THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE.

ISRAEL IS A ROGUE NUCLEAR POWER THAT THREATENS WORLD PEACE AND STABILITY.

ISRAEL'S SUPPORTERS IN THE UNITED STATES FUND BOTH DEMOCRAT AND REPUBLICAN POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS.

A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN POLITICIANS HOLD ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP AND DISPLAY GREATER LOYALTY TO ISRAEL THAN TO THEIR OWN COUNTRIES.

THE AMERICAN-ISRAELI POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (AIPAC) IS THE MOST POWERFUL LOBBY IN WASHINGTON.

THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE (ADL) IS A JEWISH-ZIONIST LOBBY THAT HARASSES AND DEFAMES POLITICIANS, ACADEMICS, AUTHORS AND ACTIVISTS WHO DON'T TOE THE ISRAELI LINE.

ISRAELI SUPPORTERS DOMINATE THE MAINSTREAM U.S. AND EUROPEAN MEDIA, INCLUDING HOLLYWOOD, AND CONTROL THE MEDIA NARRATIVE.

ISRAEL'S ZIONIST SUPPORTERS ESSENTIALLY CONTROL UNITED STATES AND EUROPEAN POLITICIANS THROUGH FUNDING POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS AND MEDIA HEGEMONY.

ISRAEL'S INTELLIGENCE SERVICE - THE MOSSAD - HAS CONDUCTED TARGETED ASSASSINATIONS OF DISSIDENTS AROUND THE WORLD FOR DECADES.

ISRAEL HAS ATTACKED AND DESTABILIZED STATES IN THE MIDDLE EAST WHICH IT DEEMS POTENTIAL THREATS.

ISRAEL HAS FOR DECADES ALLIED ITSELF WITH BRUTAL AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENTS IN AFRICA AND LATIN AMERICA.

ISRAEL HAS SOLD SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT AND WEAPONS TO BRUTAL AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENTS IN ASIA AFRICA AND LATIN AMERICA, AND HAS TRAINED MILITARY AND PARAMILITARY FORCES IN DICTATORSHIPS AROUND THE WORLD.

ANYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND EUROPE WHO CRITICIZES THE ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL ACTIONS OF ISRAEL IN PALESTINE AND AROUND THE WORLD, IS CONSIDERED BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA TO BE ANTI-JEWISH, ANTI-SEMITIC AND A JEW-HATER, AND SUPPORTERS OF THE ISRAEL BDS (BOYCOTT, DIVESTMENT, SANCTION) MOVEMENT TO BE TERRORISTS.

"The major news outlets are controlled. Reporters understand the rules perfectly. You do not ever, criticize Israel."

Fred Reed, 2014

"Any truth about Israel/Palestine or, more generally, the Middle East is not going to come from the mainstream media. Those of us who know this should rather stop beating our heads against a brick wall, asking why they don't tell the truth. That's not what they're there for."

John Pilger

"We have this powerful Israeli lobby, and the people who finance them are a very wealthy, highly influential group of people who happen to be Jewish. We effectively have an elite few who can dictate our foreign policy. It's a foreign policy that's trying to advance the interests of another country - Israel.
These people do not care how many American kids get butchered in Iraq. This is of absolutely no concern to them. They are fully ready to get us into a war against Iran, against Syria. They know that American kids will be cannon fodder, and their kids won't be."

Michael Collins Piper

"We the Jewish people control America and the Americans know it."

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 2001

"A controversial bill that officially defines Israel as the "Nation-State of the Jewish People" was approved by the Israeli cabinet.
Finally Israel has acknowledged its true Jewish nature. Instead of pretending to be a 'Jewish Democracy" - a contradiction in terms, the Jewish State admits that it is a theocracy guided by Jewish racial supremacist ideology.
The bill, which is intended to become part of Israel's Basic Laws, recognises Israel's Jewish character, institutionalises Jewish law as an inspiration for legislation and delists Arabic as an official second language. As if until now Arabic had been equal to Hebrew.
According to some Israeli critics, the new Israeli bill would weaken the wording of Israel's declaration of independence, which states that the new state would "be based on the principles of liberty, justice and freedom expressed by the prophets of Israel [and] affirm complete social and political equality for all its citizens, regardless of religion, race or gender."
Israel has always been the Jewish State, it has never been a liberal place nor has it been committed to justice or equality. The deepest truth is that universal humanism and ethical culture is foreign to Judaic thinking that is tribal and legalistic."

Gilad Atzmon, 2014

"The dissolution of Syria and Iraq into ethnically or religiously unique areas is Israel's primary target on the Eastern front. Its dissolution is even more important for us than that of Syria. Iraq is stronger than Syria. In the short run, it is Iraqi power which constitutes the greatest threat to Israel."

Oded Yinon, an Israeli journalist,
in an 1982 article for a publication of the World Zionist Organization in which he outlined Israel's strategy in the Middle East

"In the world of neocon propaganda, Iran - a treaty signatory that has no nuclear weapons and insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes - must be endlessly badgered, but Israel - an undeclared rogue nuclear state with a vast arsenal - must be shielded from similar criticism and pressure."

Robert Parry, 2010

"Israel's goal in the Middle East has been to gin up as much conflict and chaos as possible, keeping its Islamic enemies divided, making it impossible for any credible challenge to arise among its Arab neighbors, and aiming the main blow at Tehran, while paying lip service to the awfulness of ISIS and al-Qaeda. Their quarrel isn't really with the Arabs, anyway, it's with the Persians, whom they fear and loathe, and whose destruction has been their number one objective since the days of Ariel Sharon."

Justin Raimondo, 2014

"Israel is the fifth largest exporter of arms in the world, up from its seventh place ranking in 1980. Israel remains the largest supplier of arms to sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America."

Clarence Lusane

"We must blow Gaza back to the Middle Ages destroying all the infrastructure including roads and water."

Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai, 2012

"We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn't stop with Hiroshima -the Japanese weren't surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too. There should be no electricity in Gaza, no gasoline or moving vehicles, nothing. Then they'd really call for a ceasefire."

Gilad Sharon, son of the former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, Jerusalem Post

"Israel controls the U.S. Senate. The great majority of the Senate of the U.S. - somewhere around 80% - is completely in support of Israel; anything Israel wants; Israel gets. This has been demonstrated time and again, and this has made foreign policy difficult for our government."

Senator J. William Fulbright told CBS Face the Nation on April 15, 1973

"The real reason why American politicians are so deferential to Israel is the political power of the Israel lobby. The lobby is a loose coalition of individuals and organizations that actively works to move U.S. foreign policy in a pro-Israel direction... In its basic operations, the Israel lobby is no different from interest groups like the farm lobby, steel and textile workers, and a host of ethnic lobbies, although the groups and individuals who comprise the Israel lobby are in an unusually favorable position to influence U.S. foreign policy. What sets it apart, in short, is its extraordinary effectiveness."

John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, 2007

"The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is a Thought Police. It is designed to prevent anyone from saying anything critical about the state of Israel, unless it's approved by the ADL in advance. Anyone who even dares to mention the fact that the Israelis have immense power in this country is considered anti-Semitic. So that's what the ADL is. It is a Thought Police."

Michael Collins Piper

"By what means has America (and the entire West) been brought to the state that no public man aspires to office, or editor feels secure at his desk, until he has brought out his prayer-mat and prostrated himself to Zion?... The power of money and the prospect of votes have demonstrably been potent lures, but in my judgment by far the strongest weapon is this power to control published information;... and so to be able to give any selected person a "good" or a "bad" press."

Douglas Reed in his book "The Controversy of Zion" - published in the 1950s

"In Israel, the Arabs are the working people and the Jews the administrators, inspectors, officials, and police - mainly secret police. A state ruling a hostile population of 1.5 to 2 million foreigners would necessarily become a secret-police state, with all that this implies for education, free speech and democratic institutions. The corruption characteristic of every colonial regime would also prevail in the State of Israel. The administration would suppress Arab insurgency on the one hand and acquire Arab Quislings on the other. There is also good reason to fear that the Israel Defense Forces, which has been until now a people's army, would, as a result of being transformed into an army of occupation, degenerate, and its commanders, who have become military governors, resemble their colleagues in other nations."

Israeli author Yeshayahu Leibowitz

"Israel sits atop a coalition from hell which is carrying out a Machiavellian divide and rule stratagem to weaken the remaining impediments to unbridled Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. The ultimate goal is to overthrow the Syrian and Iranian governments and to neutralize their militaries."

Brandon Martinez

"Benjamin Netanyahu is an obnoxious, racist, Jewish supremacist. And on all of those descriptives: obnoxious, racist, Jewish supremacist, he's wholly representative of the Israeli population. And the reason they keep reelecting him despite the scandals is because when they look at Benjamin Netanyahu, most of the Israeli population see themselves. And they vote for him because in his mental outlook, contempt for Arabs, contempt for Muslims These are Jewish supremacists The Israeli people can't conceive Arabs or Muslims as being on the same moral order as themselves. They're terrorists or they're savages."

Norman Finkelstein, 2019

"Tell me, do the evil men of this world have a bad time? They hunt and catch whatever they feel like eating. They don't suffer from indigestion and are not punished by Heaven. I want Israel to join that club. Maybe the world will then at last begin to fear us instead of feeling sorry. Maybe they will start to tremble, to fear our madness instead of admiring our nobility. Let them tremble; let them call us a mad state. Let them understand that we are a savage country, dangerous to our surroundings, not normal, that we might go wild, that we might start World War Three just like that, or that we might one day go crazy and burn all the oil fields in the Middle East. Even if you'll prove to me that the present war is a dirty immoral war, I don't care. We shall start another war, kill and destroy more and more. And do you know why it is all worth it? Because it seems that this war has made us more unpopular among the civilized world. We'll hear no more of that nonsense about the unique Jewish morality. No more talk about a unique people being a light upon the nations. No more uniqueness and no more sweetness and light. Good riddance."

former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon

"Israel should have exploited the repression of the demonstrations in China, when world attention focused on that country, to carry out mass expulsions among the Arabs of the territories."

Benyamin Netanyahu, 1989

"The New York Times and the Washington Post are decidedly sliding into the neocon camp, where the likes of the Wall Street Journal have long resided.
For the Post, this may already be an old story, given its enthusiastic cheerleading for the Iraq War.
... The The New York Times tosses aside all pretense of objectivity in the cause of seeking "regime change" in Iran, today's top priority for the neoconservatives.
... Iran's alleged interest in acquiring a nuclear weapon is trumpeted incessantly, while rogue nuclear states in the region such as Israel, Pakistan and India are given a pass."

Robert Parry, 2010

"Between ourselves it must be clear that there is no room for both peoples together in this country. We shall not achieve our goal if the Arabs are in this small country. There is no other way than to transfer the Arabs from here to neighboring countries - all of them. Not one village, not one tribe should be left."

Joseph Weitz, head of the Jewish Agency's Colonization Department in 1940

"Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our time is the emergence in the newly created State of Israel of the Freedom Party (Herut), a political party closely akin in its organization, method, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties."

Albert Einstein, Hanna Arendt and other prominent Jewish Americans, writing in The New York Times, protesting the visit to America of Menachem Begin, December 1948

"It is the duty of Israel leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonization or Jewish state without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands."

Ariel Sharon, 1998

"We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq... These events swung American public opinion in our favor."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 2008

THE NEWS AND THE TRUTH

THE FALSE MEDIA NARRATIVE:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA SEEK TO TELL THE TRUTH, TO TRY TO BE OBJECTIVE, AND ARE COMMITTED TO KEEPING THE AMERICAN PUBLIC INFORMED ABOUT THE IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE DAY.

THE REALITY:

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA LIE.

THE CORPORATE MEDIA MANUFACTURE A WORLD THAT REFLECTS THE VIEWS OF ESTABLISHED POWER, PRESERVES THE STATUS QUO, AND SERVES THE AGENDA OF A GLOBAL OLIGARCHY, OFFERING AN ENDLESS STREAM OF PROPAGANDA, DISINFORMATION AND LIES, MISINFORMING PEOPLE AND PREVENTING THEM FROM UNDERSTANDING HOW THE WORLD REALLY WORKS.

THE FALSE NARRATIVE THAT THIS OLIGARCHY CONSTRUCTS THROUGH THEIR CONTROL OF MOST MAJOR MEDIA INSTITUTIONS WORLDWIDE - ALTHOUGH WESTERN IN ORIGIN AND PRIMARILY BASED IN THE UNITED STATES - IS GLOBAL IN SCOPE, WITH THE HEGEMONY OF WESTERN FINANCIAL, CORPORATE, DYNASTIC AND POLITICAL ELITES AS ITS GOAL.

"The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses."

Malcolm X

"I've been a journalist for about 25 years, and I was educated to lie, to betray, and not to tell the truth to the public.
But seeing right now within the last months how the German and American media tries to bring war to the people in Europe, to bring war to Russia - this is a point of no return and I'm going to stand up and say it is not right what I have done in the past, to manipulate people, to make propaganda against Russia, and it is not right what my colleagues do and have done in the past because they are bribed to betray the people, not only in Germany, all over Europe."

Dr. Udo Ulfkotte, formerly a journalist with the German newspaper 'Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung' and a German political scientist, 2014

"I have certain rules I live by. My first rule: I don't believe anything the government tells me. Nothing. Zero."

George Carlin

"No country in the world has a press that's more dishonest than the United States of America does.
Only people who possess a thoroughly scientific orientation toward confirming and disconfirming allegations, are capable of extracting from such 'news' a realistic understanding of what's actually happening. The vast majority of people can be fooled, and they can be fooled constantly and even for decades, and yet still trust the institutions that have deceived them so mercilessly through all of those decades."

Eric Zuesse, 2019

"What the press do is they tell you lies; lies they already know you want to hear. Just as politicians look to polls to determine their policies, letting poorly-informed people lead them on important issues, the press can figure out what its readers or viewers believe, and make a hell of a living pandering to their egos and telling them that they're smart."

Allan Uthman, 2007

"Either we are going to begin to understand how the media really works, or we're going to let that opportunity pass. Its almost an historic opportunity, that we understand that the perception of our world is utterly distorted most of the time through what are seen as credible sources of information."

John Pilger, 2009

"There is a system in place which ensures that all the reporters in positions of influence are there not to report factually on the news of the day, but to sell a particular narrative that is friendly to the state and the status quo."

Caitlin Johnstone

"The US consistently sides with dictators and against democracies the overwhelming majority of the time, and has done so since the US has been a country. And every time they do it, they come up with elaborate lies, excuses, and subterfuges to explain why they're doing it."

David Rovics , 2019

"There were huge marches prior to the Iraq war, against the war in 2003. There were hundreds of thousands of people, millions of people throughout Europe marching in the streets against the war.
And yet, the mainstream media virtually excluded those demonstrations from the narrative, because they're threatening, and because they're considered to be the act of unserious radicals and people who are on the fringe, and I think that in some sense, that's reflective of the fact that that level of agitation is probably the most threatening to the people who have a vested interest in having the system continue unchanged."

Glenn Greenwald - Bill Moyer's Journal, 2009

"To keep information from the public is the function of the corporate media."

Gore Vidal

"Journalists lie to us because their careers are controlled by government and corporations dependent on government. "

Paul Craig Roberts, 2015

"The mainstream media are tasked by the powers-that-be with marketing war in order to advance US foreign-policy objectives. Without the moral justification for war, it becomes more difficult to convince Americans and Europeans to send their sons to die thousands of miles away from home. It is straightforward Brainwashing 101: repeat a lie long enough, and people will start to believe it."

Federico Pieraccini, 2019

"Most of the mainstream media has been transformed into little more than complete propaganda over the past several decades. When the various papers and televisions stations aren't covering up for the war crimes and corruption of politicians and intelligence agencies, they are busy protecting their corporate advertisers from any potential criticism."

Michael Krieger

"A free press is essential to a healthy democracy. There is a purpose to journalism, and it is not just to entertain. It is not to pander to political power, big corporations and rich men. Newspapers have what amounts in the end to a constitutional duty to tell their readers the truth."

Peter Oborne, in his article: Why I have resigned from the Telegraph

"The Globalist strategy, which was planned by the Club Of Rome along with top globalists, was to create the idea of an environmental threat so potentially devastating that the only option would be for the public to accept global governance as the solution. Global warming and "climate change" became that existential threat.
It does not seem to matter how often or how brutal the climate change argument is debunked by real data; the globalists desperately push the ideology. It is a primary key to everything they hope to accomplish in terms of centralization, and their timeline is set for the year 2030."

Brandon Smith, 2019

"The New York Times, Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal are quasi-governmental organs, predictably predictable and predictably dishonest. The truth is not in them."

Fred Reed, 2014

"Western corporations own the media, and their advertising makes the industry profitable. In this sense, the media cannot fulfil the function of watchdog of power, because in fact it is power. It is the power of the globalised elite to control and limit the ideological and imaginative horizons of the media's readers and viewers. It does so to ensure that imperial interests, which are synonymous with those of the corporations, are not threatened."

Jonathan Cook, 2011

"In 2009, the University of the West of England published the results of a ten-year study of the BBC's coverage of Venezuela. Of 304 broadcast reports, only three mentioned any of the positive policies introduced by the government of Hugo Chavez. The greatest literacy programme in human history received barely a passing reference.
In Europe and the United States, millions of readers and viewers know next to nothing about the remarkable, life-giving changes implemented in Latin America, many of them inspired by Chavez. Like the BBC, the reports of the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Guardian and the rest of the respectable western media were notoriously in bad faith. Chavez was mocked even on his deathbed."

John Pilger, 2014

"The problem is not that a computer network [Internet] offers an alternative to the information aristocracy. The true crisis is that neither the news media nor the government has enough credibility to be accepted as either truthful or impartial on their own."

military writer William M. Arkin

"In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Operation Mockingbird was a secret CIA effort to influence and control the American media, and thus to influence and control the information received by the American people."

Brandon Turbeville, 2017

"If you are getting your news from mainstream media, whether it's from supposedly "conservative," "liberal," or "objective" outlets, whether a corporate-owned or so-called "public" network, if you're in the US, the UK, and many other countries, you are being lied to. How much they're lying depends on what they're reporting on. What you can be sure of, though, is if it's something we really need to know the truth about right now - if a light needs to be shone on an urgent issue, like a possibly imminent invasion of a sovereign country by the US military - you can be sure that that's when they'll lie more, not less. When we need them the most, that's when they'll fail us most spectacularly."

David Rovics , 2019

"Our Mainstream News Media is demonstrating that when it pertains to reporting important facts to the public, they are absolutely worthless. China and other state-controlled news outlets are no worse than our own news media; the only difference is that our media releases enough valid news to lull the public into believing that we have news that reflects the needs of the public. However, when it comes to important issues, our MSM is no better than any other fascist/authoritarian news outlet that exist in some of the most restrictive societies on earth."

William Cormier, 2010

"The Pentagon employs more than 27,000 PR specialists who, with a budget of nearly $5 billion a year, are working the media and circulating targeted manipulations."

globalresearch.ca, 2016

"It is vital to distinguish between independent journalists who don't have any financial incentive to deceive people, and members of the mainstream media, economists and politicians who most often do. They make a very comfortable living and are paid large sums of money to manipulate and pacify us - to keep us isolated, divided, confused, ignorant, apolitical and as passive as possible. Their primary function is to dumb us down and keep us on the sidelines."

David Degraw

"If you produce dissenting reports, there are many ways to get you back in line quickly. If you don't follow the guidelines, you will not keep your job long. This system works pretty well, and it reflects established power structures.
... The point is that they wouldn't be there unless they had already demonstrated that nobody has to tell them what to write because they are going say the right thing. If they had started off at the Metro desk, or something, and had pursued the wrong kind of stories, they never would have made it to the positions where they can now say anything they like. They have been through the socialization system."

Noam Chomsky, 1997

"Globalists all argue that the answer to most of the world's ailments is one world governance, or the end of nation states and cultural divisions in the name of "peace". The UN is so far the impetus of this effort, but it is shadowed by various organizations like the IMF, BIS (Bank of International Settlements), World Bank, as well as dozens of think tank organizations like the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations), Tavistock Institute, the Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group, etc.. A practice model for this type of government can be seen in the European Union, which is controlled by a supranational bureaucratic machine run by mostly faceless officials who are not elected and who do not answer to the public."

Brandon Smith, 2019

"All news is lies and all propaganda is disguised as news."

Willy Munzenberg, Stalin's propaganda chief

"If people really knew the truth the war (World War I) would be stopped tomorrow, but of course they don't know and can't know."

British prime minister David Lloyd George confided in C.P. Scott, editor of the Manchester Guardian

"The news and truth are not the same thing."

American journalist Walter Lippmann (1889-1974)

"Most Americans have no idea that what we are fed by the news media is nothing more than a portrayal of what powerful corporations want us to believe, that what happens to pass as education is as often as not mere propaganda, that what we learn in church may have very little or nothing to do with the truth, that what our parents teach us may be nothing more than an accumulation of their own personal biases, no doubt a rather subtle modification of what they were taught by their parents. And through such a process, governments and nations around the world wield control as to what their citizens, believe, value, and do."

Doug Soderstrom

"You're never going to get any truth from us [television]. We'll tell you anything you want to hear. We lie like hell. We deal in illusions. None of it is true! But you people sit there, day after day, night after night, all ages, colors, creeds. We're all you know. You're beginning to believe the illusions we're spinning here. You're beginning to think that the tube is reality, and that your own lives are unreal. You do whatever the tube tells you! You dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even *think* like the tube! This is mass madness, you maniacs!
... This tube [television] is the Gospel, the ultimate revelation. This tube can make or break presidents, popes, prime ministers. This tube is the most awesome God-damned force in the whole godless world, and woe is us if it ever falls in to the hands of the wrong people, who knows what shit will be peddled for truth.
... Television is not the truth. Television is a God-damned amusement park."

Howard Beale, in the movie 'Network', 1976

"The early-twentieth-century journalist Lincoln Steffens proved that he could create a "crime wave" anytime he wanted by simply writing about all the crimes that normally occur in a large city during the course of a month. He could also end the "crime wave" by not writing about them."

Neil Postman and Steve Powers, 2008

"The ability to amplify lies, to repeat them and have surrogates repeat them in endless loops of news cycles, gives lies and mythical narratives the aura of uncontested truth."

Chris Hedges, 2009

"If the US government hires, supports, and arms terrorists. The news can claim the government is doing everything possible to fight against terrorism. The absurd contradictions are simply ignored."

Jon Rappoport

"Google has introduced algorithms intended to downgrade independent and alternative media. Google's search algorithm spreads false information. Independent online media is targeted. Freedom of expression on internet-based news outlets is being routinely stunted by Google."

Michel Chossudovsky, 2017

"You can't believe a word the American media says. If they say anything correct, it's just an accident."

Paul Craig Roberts

"What most Americans believe to be 'Public Opinion' is in reality carefully crafted and scripted propaganda designed to elicit a desired behavioral response from the public."

Ken Adachi

""Mainstream" newspapers are billionaire viewspapers peddling an extreme and extremely biased view of the world. On every single issue of consequence - from party politics, to the economy, from Iraq, to Libya, to Syria, to Venezuela, to climate change, to the nature of human happiness and the prospects for human survival - corporate media reporting and commentary are systematically filtered to further the interests of the state-corporate elites who own, manage and fund them. It is not that corporate media 'spin', 'hype' or 'sex up' the news - they fundamentally distort every significant issue they touch."

Eric Zuesse, 2018

"For the first time in human history, there is a concerted strategy to manipulate global perception. And the mass media are operating as its compliant assistants, failing both to resist it and to expose it.
The sheer ease with which this machinery has been able to do its work reflects a creeping structural weakness which now afflicts the production of our news."

Nick Davies, British investigative journalist

"Media manipulation in the U.S. today is more efficient than it was in Nazi Germany, because here we have the pretense that we are getting all the information we want. That misconception prevents people from even looking for the truth."

Mark Crispin Miller

"The mainstream media is in crisis and a free and open society at risk at a time fiction substitutes for fact, news is carefully controlled, dissent marginalized, and on-air and print journalists support powerful interests as paid liars."

Stephen Lendman, 2009

"The most effectual engines for pacifying a nation are the public papers A despotic government always keeps a kind of standing army of news-writers who, without any regard to truth or to what should be like truth, invent and put into the papers whatever might serve the ministers. This suffices with the mass of the people who have no means of distinguishing the false from the true paragraphs of a newspaper."

Thomas Jefferson

"The powers behind the New World Order system are those of the global banks and financial institutions, the military-industrial complex, the oil and energy giants, the biotech and pharmaceutical conglomerates and the powerful media and communications giants, which fabricate the news and overtly influence the course of world events by blatantly distorting the facts."

Michel Chossudovsky in his book " America's War on Terrorism"

"Mainstream journalists in the United States often function more like a fourth branch of government than a feisty fourth estate. If anything, the patterns of media bias that characterize sycophantic reporting in "peacetime" are amplified during a war or a national security crisis.
Since the tragic events of September 11, the separation between press and state has dwindled nearly to the vanishing point."

Martin A. Lee in his book "September 11 and the US War"

"The US mainstream media repeats lies as if they were facts. The US media is making itself an accomplice to wars based on fabrications."

Paul Craig Roberts, 2009

"The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media."

William Colby, former CIA Director, quoted by Dave Mcgowan, Derailing Democracy

"Although journalism - the 'media' - was always a loose extension of establishment power, something has changed in recent years. With many independent journalists ejected from the 'mainstream', a corner of the Internet has become a vital source of disclosure and evidence-based analysis: what some would call true journalism."

John Pilger, 2018

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."

Richard Salent, Former President CBS News

"We are here to serve advertisers. That is our raison d'etre."

CBS CEO Michael Jordan

Walt Disney Company CEO Michael Eisner

"We now have a press of two tiers, the establishment media and the net, with sharply differing narratives. The internet is now primary. The bright get their news from around the web and then read the New York Times to see how the paper of record will pevaricate. People increasingly judge the media by the web, not the web by the media."

Fred Reed, 2014

"We are going to impose our agenda on the coverage by dealing with issues and subjects that we choose to deal with."

Richard M. Cohen, Senior Producer of CBS political news

"We live in a dirty and dangerous world. There are some things the general public does not need to know and shouldn't. I believe democracy flourishes when the government can take legitimate steps to keep its secrets, and when the press can decide whether to print what it knows."

Katherine Graham, Washington Post publisher

"The only serious competition threatening corporate media's monopoly on official "truths" comes from the Internet."

Warren Pease, 2008

"People shouldn't expect the mass media to do investigative stories. That job belongs to the 'fringe' media."

Ted Koppel, TV Nightline host

"I have the greatest admiration for your propaganda. Propaganda in the West is carried out by experts who have had the best training in the world -- in the field of advertizing -- and have mastered the techniques with exceptional proficiency ... Yours are subtle and persuasive; ours are crude and obvious ... I think that the fundamental difference between our worlds, with respect to propaganda, is quite simple. You tend to believe yours ... and we tend to disbelieve ours."

a Soviet correspondent based five years in the U.S.

"During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."

George Orwell

"The 'alternative media' is largely dependent upon philanthropic foundations for support, such as the Rockefeller and Ford Foundations, among many others. While more critical and infused with a better analysis than can be observed in the mainstream corporate press, the 'alternative' is still controlled by the same interests, as the boards of foundations - which are themselves institutions of concentrated wealth and power - represented elite industrialists, academics, and bankers. They function, essentially, as 'controlled opposition': allowing dissent up to a point, primarily focused on criticizing policies and effects, seeking to promote reforms and alterations to the existing system in order to make it more "fair." The discourse, however, still lacks a needed element: radical analysis of information, pushing not for reform, but systemic change, or, in a word: revolution."

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings [Council on Foreign Relations] and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years.

David Rockefeller, Council on Foreign Relations, June 1991
